Sangoku Rensenki – Moutoku

Moutoku was one of the reasons why I wanted to play Sangoku Rensenki. Hey, who doesn’t wanna go after a hot Cao Cao? His route is also one of the best in the game. It’s the heaviest in terms of story and progression, but the ending is so sweet it makes me melt away.

Moutoku is well-known as the ruthless prime minister that conquers the northern lands. Hana first saw him attacking Gentoku’s followers when they were escaping. When she fell into the river after that, he was the one who saved her and took her to his own castle. Despite his reputation, he’s very kind towards Hana.

Sangoku Rensenki – Bunjaku

Moving on to Wei now, since I’m done with everyone in Shu and Wu. Next is Bunjaku, also known as Xun Yu. If Chuubou’s tsun level wasn’t enough for you, go for this guy.

Bunjaku is Moutoku’s key advisor. He is very serious about everything, and he doubted if Hana is really Koumei’s apprentice. He told Hana to help with his work, initially as a test to see her skills. The fact that she couldn’t read Chinese only made him more suspicious. Since he is a statesman, he doesn’t have any battle skills. But he’s doing his best to support Moutoku.

Sangoku Rensenki – Souan

Souan, otherwise known as Sun Lang, is my favourite character in this game. He is the other key character who plays an important role in a certain plan. Hidden character, by the way.

Souan is a cold and mysterious man Hana saw in the camp. He was talking to Koukin and soon left. His looks is really similar to both Chuubou and Shoukou, which made Hana curious if he’s also one of their family. His identity remained unknown as she never saw him again until after the Battle of Red Cliffs, when she received her book back from Unchou.

Sangoku Rensenki – Koukin

Seriously, this guy is scary at first.. but his ending is really sweet. Koukin is also known as Zhou Yu. If you have any questions about a certain part of the story in Gentoku and Chuubou’s routes, the answer lies in Koukin’s route.

Koukin is the main strategist of Chuubou’s army who often guides the young ruler. He already worked for Wu ever since Chuubou’s father was still alive and was best friends with Hakufu, Chuubou’s older brother. He always puts on a smile and it’s hard to see what he really feels since he never showed it. He’s good at playing biwa, but Hana thinks that the melody he plays are cold and lonely.

Sangoku Rensenki – Chuubou

Also known as Sun Quan, the son of Sun Jian. Chuubou’s interaction with Hana is really cute. His route is kind of bittersweet though, but that’s what I like about it. One of my favourites.

Chuubou is the super tsundere and ore-sama leader of Son family who rules the south eastern lands of China. He took over the leadership after his father and older brother’s death. The first time he met Hana, he didn’t trust her and put her in prison for a while. He also made it clear that he didn’t think too highly of her, and she thought about the huge gap between his princely appearance and his attitude.

Sangoku Rensenki – Koumei

Koumei is also known as Zhuge Liang in the original Romance of the Three Kingdoms. His route is the best in this game. No wonder he won the character poll.

Koumei a wise strategists also known as “The Sleeping Dragon”. He was the one who gave directions to Hana when she first came to that world. Gentoku wanted him to join his army, yet he made Hana his apprentice and sent her instead. He kept coming and disappearing in front of Hana instead of joining Gentoku’s army because “it’s not the time yet”.

Sangoku Rensenki – Gentoku

Yesterday my brain was full with Taeyeon and Wooyoung’s performance, mixed with lack of sleep so I couldn’t type this up properly. Anyway, Gentoku is the infamous Liu Bei. His route is so bittersweet, making it one of my favourite routes in the game.

Gentoku is a warlord and the founding emperor of Kingdom of Shu. His troops is the smallest compared to his rivals, but consisted of soldiers who are extremely loyal to him. He lost his father when he was small and pledged brotherhood with Unchou and Yokutoku. Gentoku is very kind towards everyone without exception, and has this older brother image.
