BROTHERS CONFLICT 2nd Season Vol. 1

Sorry for the long wait, but I’m finally done with the first volume of Brothers Conflict 2nd Season. As we saw in vol. 7, Iori and Kaname have left the house. They’re both away in this volume, but Yusuke gets his long-awaited spotlight!

In spring, Ema became an undergraduate student in Meiji University. While the Asahina brothers are still not giving up on her, each of them has grown too as a person. Once again, the brothers begin clashing with each other to win her heart. In this volume, a new school year starts for those who are still studying. Ema goes to an anime’s anniversary event and runs into a problem during a group date, while Tsubaki learns an important thing from Yusuke.

Chapter 24: 特別な誰かはいないふりをして
[ That special someone is pretending to be away ]

Five months after entering Meiji University, Ema experiences her first summer vacation in university. The department of science has a policy for students to submit reports even from their first year, and since she has several reports due right after the vacation, she goes to the library once or twice each week. One day, Ema is about to go home when she sees a notice on the bulletin board. It was posted by the basketball team, promoting their circle by using Subaru’s status as a future pro player. They attached the schedule of Subaru’s matches as well, and Ema notices that the first match is today. In fact, it’s taking place as she reads the notice. Ema is a bit reluctant at first, but she decides to see the match. When Ema arrives at the gym and waves her arms at him, Subaru smiles at her before turning his focus back to the match. As she watches him play, Ema realizes that Subaru has improved a lot compared to the last time she watched his match. It was a close game up to the beginning of the last quarter, but in the end Meiji University win with an overwhelming score thanks to him.

After the match, Subaru comes to talk to Ema just before she leaves the gym. He thanks her for coming and asks why she knows about today’s match, so she tells him about the notice. He only sighs since he already told his teammates not to do that, and he’s going to sign the contract after graduation… which means he’s not a pro yet. During his trip to Kyushu, he got to watch the pro team’s practice. He realized that he can’t possibly compare to any of them, but he’s happy to be able to play with them. He’s glad to have continued his basketball career. Ema smiles upon seeing Subaru looking so happy, and this makes him blush since she looks so cute. He quickly says it’s nothing though, and she decides to take her leave since his teammates are waiting for him. When he asks if she’s willing to come to his match again, she nods and asks him to inform her the schedule—which he promises to mail to her later. Just as Ema turns around to leave, she suddenly hears Subaru whispering that he’s glad she doesn’t hate him. She instantly stops walking and turns to see him, but all she can see is his back walking towards the locker room.

Ema goes to the station in front of Meiji University after that, and she hears two high school girls talking about “Asakura Fuuto” while waiting for the train. They notice that Fuuto has been appearing in a lot of dramas recently, but one of the girls seems sad about it since there’s a rumor about how the members of “forrtê”—the idol group he belongs to—are fighting because of this. While the rumor itself comes from the internet, it seems like something happened when the members of “forrtê” appeared on TV before. Sadly, Ema doesn’t get to hear the details since the train comes before they get to that part. She can’t help but feel worried about this, because Fuuto has the tendency of looking down on others—which might just come out when he’s at work. She then tries looking for more information through a search engine on her phone, and she feels relieved to see no results for this topic. However, there are several articles which contain the suspicion that Fuuto might have a sister complex. The cause is obviously the message he sent for Ema on TV before. She sighs and decides to tell him about this when they have time to talk.

From Kichijouji Station, Ema walks through a shopping arcade on the way home. Suddenly she hears a loud voice calling her name, and she looks around to find someone waving at her in front of a fast food restaurant. It’s a young boy wearing Bright Centrair’s junior high uniform—Wataru. Since he’s now in junior high, Wataru also asked Ema to change the way she calls him. It used to be “Wataru-chan” before, but now he’d pout and sulk unless she calls him “Wataru-kun”. Even though it’s summer vacation, he actually had a mock exam earlier today. Since Bright Centrair focuses on preparing their students for entrance exams, they have to take national mock exams and have shorter holidays than other schools… but Wataru is actually quite smart. His grades are higher than Ema’s junior high records. She doesn’t see him studying that much at home, so maybe he’s just smart like Masaomi and Ukyou.

As they walk home together, Wataru tells Ema about his school life. Since she’s only nodding at him, he soon gets worried and asks if his stories are boring. If they are, he wants her to tell him… or else he won’t be able to fix the flaw. Ema has to explain that it was because she’s intently listening to him, and Wataru apologizes for saying strange things. This makes her realize that he has matured a lot, but when she tells him about this… he falls silent for a while. Then he shakes his head and says that he’s still not mature yet, because she’s still not willing to become his girlfriend. Σ(゚ー゚;) Since the shopping arcade is packed with people today, before long everyone around them start whispering about their “relationship” LOL. Wataru then points out that Ema would only see him as a man when he grows up, and that’s why he knows she’s still thinking of him as a kid. Before Wataru can go further, Ema quickly takes his hand and drags him out of the shopping arcade. ( ゚∀゚)アハハ八八ノヽノヽノヽノ \ / \/ \

After parting with Wataru, Ema collects the Asahina family’s mails from the 1st floor and sorts them out for everyone in the living room. Among the letters and magazines for Masaomi and Ukyou, she finds an envelope with a certain game developer’s logo—the company Natsume works for. Inside is a list of their new releases, and one of the titles is highlighted. Directly beside it, he wrote that he encountered a lot of difficulties during the development… but the game’s finally complete. In spring, Natsume transferred from the sales department to the development department. He’s been exhausted since he had to work overtime or even spend the night in the office. She didn’t want to disturb him either, and so they haven’t seen each other in the last few months. Now that Natsume is done with the project, he should have some free time… and Ema is wondering if he’s going to visit the mansion again. It’s only obvious because this is his home after all. The question is how is she going to face him. Ema still can’t forget Natsume’s words and the kiss he left on her neck, but then she takes a deep breath and calms down. She reminds herself that she can’t think of one person only, because he’s not the only one who has confessed to her.

Ema then takes Natsume’s letter and decides to return to her room. She uses the stairs thinking it would be quicker than waiting for the lift, but then she finds Tsubaki and Azusa on the 4th floor’s elevator hall. She gets really surprised when they suddenly call her, and this causes her to slip on the stairs. Ema closes her eyes just because she hits the floor, but it doesn’t hurt that much. Also, it feels warm for some reason. When she opens her eyes, she finds Tsubaki’s face right in front of her—so close that his breath touches her lips. It seems that Tsubaki caught Ema when she fell down, though it caused him to fall onto the floor before hitting his back on the wall. ∑(-∀-;ノ)ノ She turns red as she apologizes and tries to get up, but he holds her in place and quietly asks her to stay like this for a while. It would be bad if she’s injured. When Azusa tells him that it’s fine, Tsubaki lets go of Ema and helps her stand. Of course she feels bad and asks if he’s alright, but both of them ask her not to worry. Azusa also picks up the letter from earlier and gives it back to Ema, which makes her wonder if he noticed the sender… He probably did though, because the envelope bears the logo of the company.

Ema is about to leave after thanking them, but Tsubaki stops her since they were looking for her earlier. He then takes out a ticket from his jacket and asks her to accept it. The anime he’s working on is going to celebrate its 20th anniversary soon. They’re going to hold a memorial event to celebrate it, and he wants her to come to the event. Ema is unsure since she doesn’t want to cause a misunderstanding, but noticing that she’s reluctant, Azusa tells her that it’s different from what she’s thinking of. It’s going to be Tsubaki’s big moment as a seiyuu, and Azusa wants Ema to see it. Since the role is really important to him, Tsubaki also puts a lot of hard work and dedication into it. Once again he hands the invitation ticket to Ema, and he looks so relieved when she finally accepts it. Both Tsubaki and Azusa have to return to work after that, and Ema is left in doubt. She knows the event is really important for Tsubaki as a seiyuu, but is that really the only reason…? Realizing that she’ll only drown in worries if she stays in her room, Ema puts the ticket along with Natsume’s letter in her mailbox and goes outside.

Even after reaching the first floor, Ema still can’t find the answer to her doubt. Just before she walks out, she runs into Rui—who just returned from work—at the hall. Noticing that something is troubling her, Rui takes Ema to have dinner at a Japanese tavern in Inokashira Park. One of his customers is working there, and they are guided to a couple’s seat inside. The seats are incredibly close to each other, and this makes her feel uneasy. While she knows that he’s different from the triplets, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s a man too. Ema tries to get away by mentioning that it’s almost time for dinner at home, but this only leads to Rui calling Ukyou instead—asking him to cook dinner for today. When Ema tries to argue, Rui says he can see that she doesn’t want to stay at home right now. This really surprises her since she didn’t tell him anything, but his job trained him to read people’s feelings. Everyone has an important reason for coming to his salon, and he can’t let those reasons to be ignored. He always observes their movements, gestures, facial expressions and eyes. That’s why he can see what people are wishing for.

Rui then asks if Ema is worried because of Natsume. Maybe Tsubaki and Azusa? Or could it be Subaru? When Ema asks why he brought up these four people, Rui explains that he heard everything… from Juli. From around the time when Ema entered university, Juli has been spending most of his time away from her room. She’s been wondering about what he’s doing, but apparently he’s been investigating a lot of things for her sake and reported the results to Rui. Of course it’s not a good thing for him to disturb their brothers’ privacy, but Juli promised not to do it again after Rui asked him to stop. When Ema apologizes for Juli’s actions, Rui says that’s probably why everyone loves her—she always accepts them at all times. They’re brothers, but they become distant as they grow up to avoid clashing with each other. This causes them to dislike showing their real feelings too, because that would make it more painful when they clash. However, they can show how they truly feel in front of Ema… and that’s why everyone is attracted to her. Rui then says they should make an order soon, but as they open the menu, he says there’s another reason why everyone loves her. It’s because she’s cute. ゚.+:。(*-ω-)(-ω-*)゚.+:。

After they return to mansion, Ema goes to the living room and nearly bumps into Ukyou—who’s holding a bottle of brandy. It turns out that Ukyou went out to discuss something with Masaomi earlier, and so he ordered a delivery for everyone’s dinner. Their discussion got stuck though, so they decided to return and continue at home. Masaomi then suggests asking Ema about this certain issue, and Ukyou asks her to sit with them. What they’re discussing about is actually none other than Iori. Ever since he left the mansion, Iori hasn’t contacted them even once. He didn’t draw any money from his bank account either. Since Iori is smart, they think he should be doing well out there… but they’re also a bit worried. Even though they’re brothers, Iori never talked to them that much. It might sound weird, but even brothers don’t stay together all the time. They do have things they can’t share with each other. However, they think Iori has opened his heart a bit for Ema… and so they’re wondering if she received any contact from him.

Sadly, Ema hasn’t heard anything from Iori either. A heavy silence hangs between them, until eventually Masaomi nods and thanks her. Ukyou also apologizes for stopping her, and she knows it means she can leave now… but then she decides to tell them how she feels regarding this situation. She thinks they don’t have to worry about Iori. Back on her graduation day, Iori told her that he will be alright—he already got the confidence to start over. Ema believes in Iori, and she thinks they should do the same. Both Masaomi and Ukyou agree with her opinion, though this also makes them realize that they don’t really understand Iori. Before they retire for the night, Masaomi hands a letter for Ema. There’s only a single line written on the envelope: “For imouto-chan.” It’s from Kaname. From time to time, he sends a letter for Masaomi. The temple he’s training at has a limit on sent mails, so whenever he needs something from his brothers, he’d put a separate letter inside and send everything to Masaomi. Ukyou is wondering what he does with the remaining amount, but let’s put that aside for now. If Ema wants to send reply, she can give her letter to Masaomi and he’ll send it for her.

After that, Ema returns to her room and opens Kaname’s letter. He asks if she’s doing well in university. As for him, he will have to spend a bit more time over there. He apologizes for being unable to stay with her, but he promises to return as quickly as possible. When that day comes, he wants her to give him a kiss to welcome him back. Just a kiss on the cheek would do. ヽ(*´ー`*)ノ Kaname can’t fool Ema anymore though. She has learned that from time to time, he would lie to protect others. She knows that he didn’t write the letter because he’s worried about her, but rather because he cares… and that makes her really happy. On the second page of the letter, Kaname tells Ema that if she ever loses her way, she should choose the path she believes in. She shouldn’t let others twist her around, for the path she chooses will surely be the right one. As she reads this, Ema feels deeply touched by Kaname’s words.

On the day of the memorial event, Ema wears a new dress thinking it’d be rude to show up with improper clothes. She doesn’t want to trouble Rui all the time, so she matches the coordinate herself. She’s actually planning to go out after having a light breakfast, but when she goes to the living room… she finds Hikaru eating the sandwich she made last night. His expensive-looking suit is all sloppy, which clearly shows that he came home in the morning. When Ema says she was planning to eat the sandwich, Hikaru remembers that she’s going to attend the event today… and he suddenly asks which one of the triplets is she going to choose. From Hikaru, Ema learns that Natsume is coming to the event as well. His company is planning to release a game for the anime, so he’s going to be there for work. It’s unclear how Hikaru found out about this, but it’s not important. He’s more interested in their “love square” instead. Even though Ema says that she’s only going for the sake of attending the event, he doesn’t think that excuse would work on men.

Hikaru won’t let Ema go to the event with such a “plain” appearance either, so he tells her to come over and not move until he allows her to—he’s going to do her make-up. He can’t give her the best result, but the triplets prefer light make-up on girls anyway. For the finishing touch, Hikaru puts a pearl pink lipstick on Ema’s lips… with his finger. Σ(゚ー゚;) At the same time, he wraps one arm around her and holds her in place. As he licks the remaining lipstick on his finger, Hikaru starts laughing and wonders how the triplets would react when they see Ema later. Then he sends her off and literally shoves her out of the living room.

From there, Ema doesn’t remember how she came down to the first floor. She feels like she rushed down the stairs and tries to control her breath at the entrance, but her feelings just won’t calm down. Because of this, she probably won’t make it for the train. The event takes place in Makuhari Messe, so it takes an hour and a half from the mansion—not to mention she also has to change trains. Just then one of their family cars stops in front of her, and a voice calls her to get in. Ema is surprised to see Yusuke sitting on the driver’s seat, but he only says he’ll drive her to the Makuhari Messe. He tells her that he’s going to the university, so he might as well take her there… even though it’ll be a huge detour since Makuhari Messe is in Chiba. Ema feels bad and says she’ll take the train instead, but Yusuke won’t allow her to get off. She’s putting a lot of effort for today’s event, so he doesn’t want her new clothes to get dirty in the crowd. She doesn’t know why he’s going this far just for her, but he says it’s simply because he wants to do so.

However, Ema then hears Yusuke muttering: “You’re so dangerous today. What would you do if I get even more rivals…?” He falls silent after that, and it seems like he’s not aware that she heard what he just said. Ema gets nervous when Yusuke suddenly asks her to calm down and listen, but then he says something completely different: “Actually, I just got my driving license two days ago. This is the first time I’m driving with someone inside.” Σ(-`Д´-ノ;)ノ!? After a heavy silence, Ema panics and asks Yusuke to let her out. It’s impossible since they’re already in the highway though, and he quickly tells her not to worry because his driving instructor praised him for being a good driver LOL.

Chapter 25: 夏の日、三度の問いに身を焦がし
[ A day of summer, burnt by three questions ]

When they reach Makuhari Messe, Yusuke tells Ema to be careful of heatstroke. It’s really hot outside, not to mention the event hall is packed with people. Since she remains silent beside him, he asks if his driving was too rough and made her feel sick… but she says that’s not it. Even though she can’t drive, she knows that he was being really careful. He seems really concerned about her, so she finally decides to ask about what he said earlier. What did he mean by “dangerous” and “rivals”? Yusuke instantly turns red. He denies saying something like that, so Ema only nods saying she must have misheard him… but when she’s about to get off, he quickly grabs her arm and admits that he lied. He did say those words earlier. Since Yusuke is looking straight at her, Ema blushes too and reflexively pulls her arm. Upon realizing what he just did, he panics and apologizes before letting go. Before she leaves, Yusuke tells Ema that it was a monologue. He was just talking to himself, and so he doesn’t want her to ask about the reason—he’ll tell her properly one day. When Yusuke smiles at her, Ema is surprised since she never saw this expression from him back in high school. It’s a gentle smile, and yet it looks painful as well. He then asks her to enjoy the event, and she knows it means the end of this conversation.

As she walks into the event hall, Ema reassures herself that she’s only here to attend the event. However, her doubts return when she recalls Hikaru’s words. Before she knew it, she start walking out of the event hall—thinking that she shouldn’t have come after all. That’s when she hears a familiar voice, asking her not to run away. Ema immediately stops and looks around, but the owner is nowhere to be seen. There’s no way he’d be here, since he’s supposed to be training in a temple somewhere… but his voice erases her doubts. It reminds her that the event is really important for Tsubaki, and she shouldn’t run away from it. After thanking Kaname in her heart, Ema takes a pamphlet and walks back into the event hall. Suddenly, someone asks her not to walk through the path. When she turns around, she sees a group of people near the exhibition entrance. All of them are wearing polo shirts with the logo of a certain game developer. As they carry cardboard boxes into the event hall, she notices that one of them is giving instructions to the others. His speaks in a brisk voice, and his toned back looks so big and firm. This is Ema’s first time seeing Natsume at work.

When Ema calls his name, Natsume looks surprised to see her. He awkwardly nods at her before telling his colleagues to go on standby, and he apologizes for not noticing her. Natsume thinks Ema came here because she likes the anime, and she finds it hard to say that she only came because Tsubaki invited her. Because of this, she ends up answering to everything he says with a short “…yes.” until he eventually asks about her make-up. She asks if she looks weird, but he tells her that she looks beautiful. Before Ema can thank him, Natsume suddenly pulls her behind a pillar and pins her against it—saying it’s impossible for him to hold back. He wants to know who she’s dressing up for. All that he knows is that she’s not doing it for him. Ema is surprised to see Natsume getting angry, and since she’s not answering… he then asks who she loves among the brothers. Is it Tsubaki? Or Azusa?

This makes Ema realize that she might have done something terrible. Tsubaki, Azusa and Natsume have confessed to her before, and all of them got rejected. Now the three of them are attending this event, and yet she came wearing brand new clothes and different make-up. She didn’t think about how they would feel when they see this. Ema feels really terrible, and as much as she tries not to cry, tears start welling up in her eyes. Natsume immediately lets go and apologizes, but then she asks him to understand. She only bought new clothes because this is an event, and Hikaru was the one who did her make-up. Natsume is relieved, especially after Ema confirms that she’s not doing this for Tsubaki or Azusa. Just then one of his colleagues comes to inform him that they’re not allowed to put their luggage around the entrance, so he tells her that he has to return to work. When Natsume looks at her, Ema notices that he seems reluctant about something. He doesn’t have any time to think though, so he puts a key on her palm and tells her to use it whenever she wants to. Then he runs off towards the entrance.

Ema doesn’t remember what happened after that. She only returns to her senses when Azusa eventually comes to find her. The event is about to start, and he was worried that she might not come. Since Ema is spacing out, Azusa asks if she’s feeling unwell due to the heat. She quickly assures him that she’s alright, but then she drops the key… and he picks it up before she could reach it. He notices that it’s not a key to their mansion, and she asks him to give it back since it’s not hers—she will have to return it to the owner. Azusa only smiles and nods, but Ema can feel that he’s trying to find something behind her words. After returning the key, Azusa takes Ema to their seat beside the stage. They can see the whole stage from the reserved seating area, and soon Tsubaki comes out to greet the audience.

Unfortunately, Ema can’t focus at all during the first half of the event. She keeps thinking about the key, since it’s clearly the key to Natsume’s mansion. He should have a spare key since he gave this one to her, but why would he carry the spare key around…? Could it be that he was planning to hand his apartment key to her? During the break before the second half, Azusa asks Ema what happened. He noticed that she didn’t pay attention to the stage at all, and he asks if it’s because of Natsume. The question is actually a trap, but she walks right into it by asking why he knows. Azusa isn’t happy that Natsume is doing things behind their backs, and when Ema tries to defend Natsume… he angrily asks what she came here for. He tells her that Tsubaki worked really hard for today’s event. He checked the scripts and practiced until late hours, and he didn’t get much sleep last night. Of course it’s a part of his job as a seiyuu, but he put that much effort into it because he knows she’s coming to the event.

Here, Azusa asks the same question as Natsume did earlier—who does Ema love among the brothers? He knows it’s not him, so is it Tsubaki? Or maybe Natsume? Before she can recover from the shock, he asks if she knows what she’s doing. She rejected them, but then she agreed to come to this event only to not pay attention. Azusa doesn’t mind if it happens to him, but he doesn’t want Ema to do this to Tsubaki. He has to leave for work now, but he asks her to stay and watch the reader’s theater. Tsubaki would be happy if she tells him her impression later. Before leaving, he apologizes and asks her to understand that he didn’t mean to hurt her.

As much as she wants to focus, Ema can’t enjoy the second half of the event either. She feels tired by the end of the event, but he also finds it a bit hard to go home. Just before she leaves the hall, Tsubaki grabs her arm and asks her to wait. He then takes her to the staff area, asking the remaining audience to make way because he has a “meeting” with her. Once they’re alone, Tsubaki asks if Ema has some time to talk. She actually wants to refuse, but since she can’t explain the reason… she follows him to a nearby beach. There’s a sign saying “no swimming”, and so the beach is empty even though it’s summer. When Tsubaki asks her about the event, Ema continues spacing out until he asks if she can hear him. She quickly says it was good, but he actually knows that she didn’t enjoy it. He could see her seat from the stage wing, and he saw her talking to Azusa during the break… but then he noticed that Azusa was angry.

As they walk along the beach, Tsubaki says he’s been thinking of asking Ema a question: “Who do you love among us brothers?” Ema is surprised since the triplets all asked her the same question on the same day, but Tsubaki adds that he has decided not to ask. He’s been waiting for a chance to ask her, but he can’t give her that question right now… because he knows he won’t get the right answer. He also has a feeling that her affection towards Azusa and Natsume has lowered drastically at the moment—which is true. Tsubaki then takes out a handkerchief and hands it to Ema, asking her to sit with him on the beach. He keeps his gaze at the sea as he admits that he wasn’t planning to invite her. He knew she would come if he asked, but then he might misunderstand her intentions—because men are stupid. They’d get carried away if they see hope, just like how he went out of control last year.

After that incident, Tsubaki has been thinking and realized that Ema has a lot on her mind. The reason is none other than him and his brothers. He came to realize his brothers’ feelings and all the things they did to her, along with the fact that he was doing the same thing. As a voice actor, there are things he can see by observing people’s gestures and expressions. From there, Tsubaki realized that Ema needs time. He was planning to wait quietly for now, knowing that he should do that if he loves her… but then Azusa told him to invite her to the event. The reason was because Azusa knew Ema probably holds a negative impression on Tsubaki, and the event was a good chance to fix his image. Tsubaki found this strange because Azusa loves Ema as much as he does, but Azusa told him that he wants a fair fight. He doesn’t want to win only because Tsubaki started off with a negative image. After a while, Tsubaki realized that he feels the same… and that’s why he took Ema to the beach. He doesn’t want Azusa to start with a disadvantage either.

Realizing that’s why Azusa got angry earlier, Ema feels really bad and apologizes. Tsubaki doesn’t think it’s her fault though. He doesn’t know what happened between them, but he thinks it’s Azusa’s fault for getting angry. Besides, she’s probably not the only one who triggered Azusa’s anger. Tsubaki knows this must be related to Natsume somehow. When he heard that Natsume’s company is going to run a booth during the event, Tsubaki had a bad feeling. He felt that something troublesome would happen if Azusa runs into Natsume… and his hunch always comes true during times like this. When Tsubaki asks if Ema is confused because of them, she decides to admit that he’s right. He thanks her for answering, and he asks her not to worry. He believes they will understand once he talks to them. Tsubaki knows he has caused a lot of trouble for Ema before, so he wants to help her as an older brother.

When the evening sun disappears into the horizon, Tsubaki says they should go back and helps Ema to stand up. He keeps holding her hand in silence for a while, but soon he apologizes and lets go—asking her not to mind him. She doesn’t know what to say to him either, and so she tells him that she’ll return his handkerchief after washing it. It’s the least she can do to thank him for today. Tsubaki has to go back to the event hall, so he walks Ema to a place where she can catch a taxi to go home.

Three weeks passed after that, and September eventually comes. During those three weeks, Ema received a few mails from Natsume. He only told her about the games he’s going to work on though, and he never mentioned anything about the key. Azusa apologized on the day after the event, and he’s back to normal ever since. As for Tsubaki, he’s been really busy with work—asking his agency if there’s anything he can do aside from voicing anime and games. That day, Ema realized that she still has a lot to learn about her brothers. She has been living with them for two years, and she will have to keep watching over them from different perspectives. On her graduation day, she rejected those who confessed to prioritize her family’s happiness… and she doesn’t think she made the wrong decision. After all, the Asahina family is filled with wonderful people.

On Sunday afternoon, Fuuto comes home in a suit and asks Ema to make lunch for him—he’s tired and hungry. Ema actually has a promise to see Wataru, but Fuuto knows they’re just planning to play games together anyway. He calls her sad for gaming with her little brother at this age, but when she gets mad… he gives her and box and asks her not to get angry. Inside, Ema finds a bottle of perfume from a famous foreign brand—though it’s not sold in Japan. Fuuto has been chosen as the brand’s image model, but it’s tentative since he hasn’t signed the contract yet. As he puts his tie around Ema’s neck, Fuuto asks her to cook something for her beloved younger brother who’s about to spread his wings and fly around the world. ヽ(*´ー`*)ノ He leaves after asking her to bring the food to his room, and she has no choice since it’s a huge achievement for him. After putting Fuuto’s tie into her pocket, Ema calls Wataru and asks him to wait for a while.

Chapter 26: 告白は夜に解けていく
[ The confession melts into the night ]

One day at 5:25 PM, Ema runs into Yusuke at the station in front of Meiji University. It’s unusual since he mostly drives to university after getting his license, but he has to take the train because Ukyou is using the car today. It can’t be helped since it’s not his personal car, so Yusuke wants to save up and quickly get his own car. When he asks what she’s doing here, Ema explains that she’s waiting for Mahoko. Similarly to them, Mahoko goes to Meiji University as well. It’s just her major is literature, while Ema and Yusuke both take commerce. Mahoko is late since they’re supposed to meet up at 5 PM, but soon the train arrives and she appears from the crowd… with Sasakura walking behind her. It turns out that Mahoko is late because she was meeting up with Sasakura first in Shinjuku, but then she mistook the place. Since Sasakura goes to Hosei University, Ema hasn’t seen him at all since graduation. It reminds her of their high school days.

On the other hand, Yusuke is clearly not pleased to see this. Especially because Mahoko then invites Ema to go on a group date together. There’s a large scale group date in a club in Shibuya tonight, and a lot of good-looking guys from other universities are coming. A senior in Mahoko’s circle knows the staff, so she invited Mahoko to join in. However, she has to bring a good-looking guy in return. Due to this condition, Mahoko then invited Sasakura to come along. The problem is that she just told him earlier today. It’s way too sudden, but Sasakura agreed as long as Mahoko gives him a compensation later… so she decided to replay him by calling Ema. Mahoko really wants to join the group date though, and Sasakura also asks Ema to go with them. He doesn’t get much chance to see her because their campuses are far apart, so he feels happy to be able to meet her today. Before Ema can answer, Yusuke points out that Mahoko is only increasing the number of girls by bringing her along. Her senior might ask her to bring another guy, so he will be going with them.

During the group date, Mahoko finds a good-looking guy from Keio University. She excitedly reports back to Ema, but sadly Ema isn’t enjoying the event at all. In fact, she regrets not refusing Mahoko’s invitation. The club is located underground, about 10 minutes away from Shibuya Station. The group date is going to end in an hour, but she’s planning to just sit alone until it ends. While Mahoko tells her to at least talk to someone, Ema has noticed that all the guys here have a similar aura. They look cheerful and sociable like Kaname or Hikaru, but somehow she finds them shady as well. About three of them have approached her earlier, and she felt that they’re all hiding something behind their gentle words—just like what Hikaru usually does to her. Since she thinks they’re suspicious, she couldn’t have a proper conversation with any of them. When Mahoko leaves to talk to the guy from earlier, Ema also moves to find a seat that’s closer to her… but then she sees Sasakura chatting with a pretty girl near the stairs. Realizing that both Mahoko and Sasakura are having a good time, Ema decides not to disturb them.

From there, Ema goes to the balcony on the southern side of the club. It’s empty since there are no tables nor seats, and her eyes sweep through the floor below—wondering where Yusuke might be. At the start of the group date, the four of them were sitting together. Ema then left their table for a while, but then both Sasakura and Yusuke were gone when she came back. According to Mahoko, they got lucky since some girls came to pick them up. Ema hasn’t seen Yusuke ever since, and she can’t seem to find him anywhere in the club. Since she has no idea what to do, Ema decides to just stay in the balcony until the group date ends… but then a girl suddenly comes over and asks Ema to follow her. She was asked by “Yunagi-kun” to call Ema, though Ema doesn’t recognize the name. The girl says she’ll get flooded with complaints if Ema doesn’t come, so she pulls Ema’s arm and takes her to the northern side of the club—which looks like the VIP area. A man is sitting on the sofa, surrounded by about 10 girls. All of them have heavy make-up, like the one who brought her here. The man seems to know Ema, but she doesn’t remember him at all. When she politely asks who he might be, all the girls around him start laughing at her… and she obviously gets pissed because she never wanted to come here in the first place.

Just when Ema turns around to leave, the man suddenly says that “Kana-san” has disappeared because of her. Since she still doesn’t remember him, he then gives her another hint: “summer festival”. This finally makes her remember that he’s the monk she met at the temple Kaname works at—Chiaki. His full name is Yunagi Chiaki, a third year in Keio University. When she asks if it’s alright for a monk to play in a club, he says he was just working part-time at the temple. He didn’t want to do it, but the person who asked him to come is a bit special. Chiaki was asked by an acquaintance to join this group date, and he was about to leave because he found it boring… but then he saw Ema at the balcony. He thought it’s a good chance to talk to her, since he has some questions for her. For example, how does it feel to be loved romantically by her older brother? Σ(-`Д´-ノ;)ノ!? A monk’s job involves seeing all sorts of relationships between people, so Chiaki knew that Kaname was in love with Ema. What he doesn’t get is that there’s a lot of other girls who are more beautiful than Ema, and yet Kaname left to train and erase his “worldly desires” because of her. Chiaki draws closer as he asks what Ema did to win Kaname’s heart, telling her that he’s interested in her.

As the answer, Ema yells at Chiaki to stop messing around and slaps him on the face—telling him not to insult her brother. He glances at his own cheek, muttering that he can see her answer. The next moment, he suddenly strangles her saying it’s probably impossible for Kaname to get rid of his worldly desires… so he’s going to provide some help. All the girls around them instantly scatter when Chiaki takes Ema to the sofa. As he pushes her down, Chiaki tells Ema that he’s going to make her his. That way, Kaname would have no choice but to give up on her. Ema tries to resist, but she can’t move since Chiaki is strangling her neck. She desperately turns to the girls around them, only to realize that none of them are willing to help. No one here is on her side. However, someone soon comes to pull Chiaki away—saying he’s here to fetch Ema. When Chiaki mocks him for trying to be a knight, the person recognizes him as “the monk from the same temple as Kana-nii.” When the light on the floor panel changes, Ema realizes that Yusuke has come to save her.

When Chiaki asks if he’s Kaname’s brother, Yusuke ignores him and apologizes to Ema. He got caught by a weird girl earlier and was taken away from her side. Yusuke then puts his arms around Ema to help her walk, but of course Chiaki won’t let them leave after ruining his party. Yusuke doesn’t care though, so he only says he won’t hold back if Chiaki gets in their way. Chiaki points out that it’s weird to go this far just for his sister, and Yusuke answers that Ema and him are not siblings… but he falls silent before he can say what she is to him. This makes Chiaki realize that Yusuke is also in love with Ema, and he mockingly tells Yusuke to join Kaname in his training. They can meditate under a waterfall and erase their worldly desires together. Yusuke snaps and shouts at Chiaki to shut up, raising his fist in front of Chiaki’s face. If Chiaki goes further with his words, Yusuke will make sure he can never speak again. Chiaki only scoffs and bats Yusuke’s hand away, calling them “perverted brothers” as he tells Yusuke not to get cocky. Knowing that Chiaki might call more allies if a fight occurs, Ema stops Yusuke saying that’s more than enough. Yusuke seems reluctant at first, but then he nods and takes Ema outside.

Once their taxi reaches Sunrise Residence, Yusuke calls Sasakura to make sure everyone has gone home safely. He walks Ema to her room so she can get some ret, but then she starts trembling and clings onto his arm. Realizing that Ema doesn’t want to be alone, Yusuke decides to take her into his room—because he just can’t walk into hers. When they enter his room, he asks her to wait at the entrance for a while. His room is messy, and he needs to clean up for a bit. She nods and waits near the door while he goes inside. She feels completely blank for a moment… and then it all comes to her. Fear and peace. Sadness and joy. Anger and emptiness. Hope and despair. Everything explodes inside of her. When Yusuke returns, Ema is silently crying alone. She tries wiping her tears, but they won’t stop coming out. Then suddenly, Yusuke squats down and hugs Ema. As he puts his hands on her head and back, she breaks into sobs and cries even harder—forgetting everything else.

By the time Ema calms down, midnight has passed and the date has changed. She feels really bad and refuses when Yusuke wants to walk her back to her room, because she caused him a lot of trouble today. He had to join the group date because of her, and he also came to save her. Yusuke says it’s only obvious because she would never get in danger if he didn’t leave her side, but Ema was really afraid that he’d get hurt if it turned into a fight. She can’t bear the thought of something terrible happening to him. However, Yusuke only asks Ema to listen to him for a while. If she does, she will understand why he doesn’t think of this as a trouble. It’s not something they can talk about at the entrance though, and so he takes her into his room. As they sit on his bed, Yusuke tells Ema that he’s always looking at her. From the very first time he saw her in high school, he’s always been in love with her. Ema is surprised, and Yusuke turns red as he asks her not to stare—he’s not used to these kind of stuff. He tried to keep his feelings hidden in front of her, but most of their brothers already know about this.

Ema feels really sad. She can’t accept her brothers’ feelings to protect the whole family, and she finds it so painful to reject Yusuke’s feelings. He doesn’t mind though, because he loves her to the point that she can do anything to him and he wouldn’t complain. He only confessed to let her know that he never thinks of her as a burden, but now he’s glad that he did. He’s been in love with her for the longest time, but he couldn’t say it because they suddenly became “siblings”. That’s why he gave up on confessing, but he can finally tell her how he feels today—even though it’s the worst timing ever. Yusuke then asks if Ema still wants him to keep her company. When she tells him that she’s alright, he smiles saying he’s glad to hear that. His smile looks so gentle. Maybe even too gentle. Ema nearly cries again, but Yusuke stops her since he might catch a cold if she pours more tears onto his shirt—which has completely changed colors LOL. She can’t help but laugh, and she allows him to walk her back to her room after that.

The next morning, Ema runs into a half-naked Subaru in the kitchen. They surprise each other by opening the door at the same time, and he explains that he’s about to take a bath after training. Before going to the bathroom, Subaru suddenly asks if something happened last night. He saw her returning home with Yusuke at night, and later on he also heard someone crying from the hallway. He recognized the voice as hers. Ema doesn’t know how to answer, but Subaru says she doesn’t have to force it. The only thing he wants to know is whether she was crying because of his brothers or not. When Ema shakes her head and explains what happened yesterday, Subaru smiles saying he’s glad to hear that… and this really surprises her because his smile looks exactly like Yusuke’s from last night. It’s a gentle smile that lets her know they truly care about her.

Subaru then asks if Yusuke is hurt, and Ema says he’s fine since it didn’t turn into a fight. Impressed by Yusuke’s actions, Subaru laughs saying he won’t lose. He asks Ema to tell him if there’s anything he can do, because there might be things Yusuke can’t handle alone. He wants her to remember that he will be happy if he can help her. Subaru then pats Ema’s shoulder and leaves to take a shower, while she stares at the hallway for a while after he’s gone. It’s not only their smile. Subaru and Yusuke also said exactly the same thing.

After #026 – Side Tsubaki & Yusuke: 煙の向こうの恋敵へ
[ For the rival beyond the smoke ]

Tsubaki has always thought that one can never have too many holidays, but recently he’s starting to see that it’s not really true. Today, Ema said that she’s going to clean up her room. Before, he’d definitely tell her to play with him instead… but today, he only asked her to call him if she ever needs help. He feels that it’s something Natsume would say, not to mention she ended up going out with a friend after that. After the memorial event, Tsubaki went to talk to Azusa and Natsume—just as he promised. They both listened to him and stopped doing things which would trouble her, but at the same time this also made it hard for him to ask her out. Everything he said would be pointless if he does that, and Azusa would warn him that it’s called “cheating” LOL. Tsubaki ends up spending the day doing nothing, and he heads to the 5th floor to find Yusuke lying on the kitchen table—half-dying from hunger. The fridge is empty, and earlier Ukyou called to say that he’s going to return late today.

However, this gives Tsubaki a nice idea. Since Yusuke already has a driving license, they can go out and eat grilled meat. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ At first Yusuke is suspicious, but Tsubaki explains that he wouldn’t be able to drink if he goes alone. Yusuke only has to drive, and Tsubaki will pay for their meal. Tsubaki could ask Natsume instead since he only needs someone to drive, but he doesn’t want to be alone with Natsume… because the topic of Ema might come up. He really wants to avoid that for now. Tsubaki thinks it’s safe to bring the tame Yusuke, but soon he realizes that he completely underestimated Yusuke… because Yusuke is a carnivore. Literally. As Yusuke continues ordering meat to their table, Tsubaki remembers that Yusuke is madly in love with Ema as well. He starts wondering if their current situation isn’t painful for Yusuke, so he decides to ask about this—even though Yusuke is still stuffing meat into his mouth.

When Tsubaki asks if he loves Ema, Yusuke smiles saying he does… and that feeling probably will never change. This obviously surprises Tsubaki, since he was expecting Yusuke to get flustered as he admits it. Yusuke also knows it would be difficult to have his feelings returned, but when Tsubaki asks if it doesn’t make him sad… he answers that’s probably what it means to be in love. Yusuke doesn’t think having a relationship is the main point of loving someone. Love doesn’t need a reason, and it’s not something they can erase either. If they give up just because their love is one-sided, it means they probably have no rights to fall in love in the first place. Tsubaki is shocked. This isn’t the Yusuke he knows, but it also makes him realize that “loving someone” and “dating someone” are not necessarily connected. Tsubaki sighs saying he understands, then he calls Yusuke cheeky and walks to the toilet—leaving Yusuke to order more meat.

After leaving the restaurant, Tsubaki gets into the car and calls Yusuke. Tsubaki says he forgot his wallet, so he asks Yusuke to cover the bill for him. Of course Yusuke panics since he has no money, but Tsubaki only says he’ll be waiting in the car. If all else fails, they can always call Ukyou for help. After ending the call, Tsubaki sits back on the passenger seat—whispering that he won’t lose. Soon enough, Yusuke calls to protest since Tsubaki actually has paid everything with his credit card. 。゚(゚ノ∀`゚)゚。アヒャヒャ Tsubaki says that’s because Yusuke went ahead of him for a moment, so he should just bear with the prank. Of course Yusuke doesn’t get this at all, but Tsubaki doesn’t explain and tells him to come to the car already. Once again, he whispers that he won’t lose. No matter what happens.

Wow, Tsubaki and Yusuke grew up a LOT in this volume. As we can see from the extra chapter, Tsubaki is still himself… but he’s much more considerate towards Ema compared to before. I feel bad for Ema during the event since it’s not really her fault. In fact, it’s not her fault at all. It’s just things were so tense between the triplets, especially with Azusa and Natsume. Still, I was impressed that Tsubaki actually helped Ema to resolve this issue. ヾ(✿❛◡❛ฺฺ)ノ~❤ Meanwhile, Yusuke has become much calmer by the end of this volume. Maybe because he has finally confessed? His rivalry with Subaru seems healthy too, and I’m looking forward to see further development in the next volume.

  1. KANAME BROOOOOOOOOOO 。・゜・(/Д`)・゜・。うわぁぁぁぁん pls finish your training soon and come backkkkkk Although I’m not sure if he will attack Ema when he comes back? I’m not sure if I want that… I just want Kaname-Bro, he’s such a great support to Ema and it shows that he thinks of his family a lot TvT

Anyway, can we get a round of applause for Yukkun? MAH BOOOYYYY U GREW UP SO MUCH 88888888888888

Man, Yukkun is so mature now, esp with how he deals with his feelings for Ema. You need to learn from him, Tsubaki. And thank you for saving Ema from that creeper, Yukkun. Btw that drama with Yanagi felt a lil forced/unnecessary since… I don’t get why he’s taking it out on Ema??? lol Unless he has feelings for Kaname? LMAO another love triangle Ema has gotten herself into But srsly bro, go take your damn drama somewhere else hmpf

Btw I thought Subaru left the house? I guess he came back???

And gdi, I’m real disappointed in Natsume this time. I understand he’s impatient but that’s no excuse to pin her against the wall like that. Poor Ema. Plus I rly dont like that notion of a girl dressing up = must be for a man. EXCUSE YOU, A GIRL DRESSES UP COZ SHE FEELS LIKE IT. Not for someone else. Hmpf!

    • Looking at his letter, I think Kaname will still tease Ema knowing that she won’t react LOL. I can’t help but feel that he’s only asking for the kiss to joke around and cheer her up, since he’s trying to get rid of his… uh, “wordly desires” as Chiaki puts it. Kaname promised to return home as quickly as possible though, so he better come back soon. ;____;

As for Chiaki… I had to go back and check since I forgot the details, but he hit on Ema too when they first met. His attitude instantly flipped when Kaname said Ema isn’t their temple guest, so I guess it’s just his personality. Back then Kaname also sent Chiaki away from Ema because there was a fight, and he asked if Chiaki did it on purpose. Then Chiaki said “they just came on their own”. This conversation made me ? ? ? because it’s unclear what Kaname was trying to say, so I didn’t translate that part… but maybe this will be linked to the 2nd season. For that club incident, I think he was just trying to steal Kaname’s woman and got mad when she slapped him LOL.

Oh, Subaru actually only left temporarily. He told Ema that he’ll be gone for training and won’t come home “for a while”, but I guess he came back after he’s done. I really like how Subaru and Yusuke’s rivalry seems so healthy compared to the tense air between the triplets LOL. Rather than hissing at each other, they’re just doing their best not to lose. Natsume’s reaction was exactly what Hikaru wanted to see. Hikaru should know that Natsume would flip out thinking Ema is dressing up for someone else (especially because Tsubaki is in the event) so I think it was the make-up that nailed it. I can’t really blame Natsume since the jealousy must be driving him mad, but I still feel sorry for Ema. It’s not her fault at all. :/

      • yeah I have the feeling Chiaki is just venting his anger towards Kaname unto Ema. Not cool. He deserved more than a slap hmpf

Subaru-Yukkun’s rivalry is so healthy, they should be role models to the other bros. I mean, even Tsubaki learnt a thing or two :D I for one, am glad Tsubaki is learning and maturing into a better guy. I feel like Natsume and Azusa give into his whims too easily, hence he turned into this man-child lol

Speaking of rivalries, we have yet to see how the older bros act towards Ema. Masa-nii and Ukyo, pls step unto the start line. Rui….. u just stay there and be fabulous as always. Hikaru, stop playing with stocks lol

And Natsume… like I said I understand he’s getting impatient. But dude, pls dont pressure Ema like that. Just be your usual supportive self, my man. I hope he realizes that.

        • Considering Kaname’s former reputation as a massive flirt, maybe Chiaki also got curious since Ema was able to conquer THAT Kaname. Not like she’s gonna turn his way though, she’s got 13 men in her harem already. 三ヾ(*´ω`)ノ゙ ウッヒョヒョ♪

Yeah, Tsubaki became like that because the only one he’d listen to is Azusa… but Azusa always has a soft spot for Tsubaki and wouldn’t stop him until he went too far. It’s similar for Natsume too. He might grumble and complain, but in the end he always does stuff for them anyway. I hope he’ll continue improving to be a better older brother this time.

In the 1st season, Masaomi said he wants to become someone who can give Ema peace. He’s in the supportive group together with Rui. I think that’s why he’s not making any moves on her, but I wonder how he’ll react once Wataru starts making advances. Ukyou though… Ema might not have the big boobs you love, but if you like her I’d like to see some action please. ヾ(。◣∀◢。)ノニヤリ♫ Also Hikaru, you’re supposed to be participating this time. Stop twisting things around in the background and join in already LOL.

          • awwww I’m excited to see how Hikaru is going to join in and what his first move toward Ema will be. He really seems to enjoy the tension & conflict between the brother but how will he react once he joins in?

yay Yukkun finally made is move. I can’t believe he didn’t get embarrassed like he usually does when he admit to Tsubaki that is indeed in love with Ema and nothing will change that. Just show that he sure as matured a lot. I hope that he continues to take more spotlight, since he was the first one to be in love with Ema I feel really bad that he finally confessed to her now, when many other have already.

I agree that Chiaki was just be curious about Ema and wanted to see what Kaname saw in her but since she slapped him in front all those girls i think that that just infuriated him + the fact that she was the cause of his friend leaving just made him burst with anger. but I’m glad that this even happened because if it didn’t happen then Yusuke probably wouldn’t have confessed anytime soon.

What I hope to happen in the next Vol is:
            Kaname just returns soon.
Iori to contact someone, mainly Ema.
Fuuto & Subaru make a come back since they weren’t mentioned much in this vol.
Ema starts to acknowledge Wataru as a man, sometime soon.
Masaomi & Ukyo & Hikaru start to make their move(s) on Ema.

          • sorry but i forgot to ask when the next vol will come out, and how long after is released will it take for you to summarize it, it just that I’m really excited and want to know.

          • Not sure. I’m going to get it in August along with vol. 3, but I don’t know when the summaries will be up since it takes time to write everything. Oh, and Iori is on the cover of vol. 2 so maybe we’ll see him there.

          • Hello, I would like to know if it would be possible for me to take back what you wrote about “Brothers Conflict” to translate it into French and publish the article I want to put on my own blog
To meet me you can do it through my email address below :
            muse00012000@yahoo.fr
            Thank you ^^

          • Hello!
Sure, I don’t mind as long as you credit and link back to me.
            That’s all I ask for, really. :D

Also, would you mind linking me to the translated posts? Because I’m sure there are readers who prefer reading the posts in their mother language, and your translated post might help those who are more comfortable with reading them in French. :3

          • um.. were you able to find out about the final chapter of the novel? i am disappointed honestly… i saw a post on tumblr about it.. and it really disappoints me…. it was a post a month ago. they say volume 5 is the last. AND THAT EMA PICKED……. that guiy. I dont like him at all. the posts on tumblr said it too :(

        • I personally feel like, if they set a canon pairing at the end of the novels, it maybe should be with Yusuke, even if he’s not necessarily my favorite (though I like him a lot)– he is the one that has been the most patient and giving, just being there when Ema needs him and generally not causing her any problems. It’s funny since he’s also sort of the “joke” character…we’ll see!

Or maybe what I’m saying is, I think Yusuke is the most realistically good choice for Ema, even if they don’t make the most exciting/interesting couple. :)

          • Yeah, Yusuke is so supportive towards Ema. Not to mention he’s been in love with her forever. I feel that nice guys like him and Subaru never win in this kind of story, especially since the author seems to be hinting towards Natsume x Ema, but we’ll see. 8D

    • Spoiler Alert Proceed with Caution!
NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! EMA YOU CANNOT END UP WITH SUBARUUUU!!!!!!!!!!! WHYYYYYYYY??????? HE IS THE WORST LOOKING BROTHER IN THERE AND YOU HAVE THREE HANDSOME TRIPLETS AND YOUR CUTE YUSUKE WHO A
HAS LIKED YOU FOR A LONG TIME AND A SHOTA AND A FRIGGIN’ POP IDOL!!!!!!!!

      • Oops, yeah sorry, you can delete that comment. I didn’t mean to give a spoiler! Sorry again!

        • No, it’s fine. At this point I’ve been spoiled left and right anyway, so it doesn’t matter anymore LOL. I still want to read more about the ending though. :D

  2. Oh my gawdddd!! Thank you so much! I’ve been waiting for this for almost half a year! Hallelujah!! Thank you so much, Rin-san! You’re the best!

It seems pretty intense between Azusa and Natsume. Yuusuke has matured a lot and more open to his feelings, I guess? I’m glad Tsubaki is acting more responsibly now. At least someone is there to think for Ema now.

    • No problem. I hope you enjoyed it. /o/
Yeah, Tsubaki is surprisingly mature in this volume. I guess that shows that he’s really the oldest one of the triplets LOL. Things don’t look too good between Azusa and Natsume though… I wonder if this will lead to another conflict in the long run. Yusuke also has a nice view on love, it’d be nice if he can keep supporting Ema from now on.

  3. First of all, the COVER WASN’T JUST FOOLING US it really is for Tsubaki and Yuusuke
Showing how they grew from the first season and that’s really important because they’re showing that they REALLY CARE about Ema and not just about how they feel for her. Even Tsubaki who was such a douche for going shitinsane last time at the beach and admitting that he was wrong about it and felt guilty. He started to care for how Ema feels about the whole situation having her brothers fall for her and how she’s coping with it.
When Natsume and Azusa asked Ema about who she loves, somehow I felt that they were only asking about the triplets only as if they only had the chance.. or maybe that’s just me???(Yuusuke tho)
And YUUSUKE… how to start I really didn’t like him that much but just on the average level of liking him BUT NOW IT’S LIKE (✿ ♥‿♥) I like how he’s anguishing and smiling at the same time when he was with Ema in the car… And he saved her from that other douche I don’t even wanna remember the name saying that they’re perverts falling for Ema even tho the douche also got curious about her… And how Yuusuke stayed with her when she was there crying from that experience from the douche… At first i was ヽ(゚Д゚)ノ “oh no they’re going to his room!!” apparently nothing happened… And comforted her. But most of all, how he can actually admit to others that he loves Ema, especially to Tsubaki who always teases him about it. He really matured here unlike before where he goes tsun and gets flustered.
Although, what I’m really thinking right now is the the key that Natsume gave to Ema, and what will happen to Azusa and Natsume… Why give the key to Ema?? just so that she could go in and out of Natsume’s mansion?? I’ll bet there’s more to it because, well they threw it there…
(This is too long… and scattered… I think this is the first I wrote something this long here…. TOO MANY FEELS SORRY)

    • LOL I KNOW RIGHT. I thought it’s like the 1st season where the people on the cover play an important part and then the story spreads out, but nope the whole book is really about them. xD

You’re right, Natsume and Azusa didn’t specifically state “us triplets” but the question itself is hinting at them. Whether they realize it or not, I think the triplets know they’re the closest to Ema because the others don’t make a move on her. Or maybe not as obvious. For example, Tsubaki didn’t think of Yusuke as a threat because he thought Yusuke is tame… but then he realized that Yusuke is actually a rival too LOL. Yusuke is a great guy though. He’s been growing up in the background while the others were busy attacking Ema, so I’m glad he finally got the chance to tell her how he feels. He still has that tsun side, but he’s grown much calmer too. (*’ー’*人*’ー’*)♪

By giving the key to Ema, Natsume is indirectly saying that she can come to visit him anytime. If you live alone, normally you only give a spare key to someone you really trust—like your boy/girlfriend. This key business is clearly unfinished though, so I’m sure we’ll get back to it soon.

      • now that I think about it…. maybe Hikaru joins in by sabotaging the others first…(aka the triplets) and then that’s when he’ll step up and do his thing

        • He doesn’t seem to be romantically interested in Ema for now, so I’m sure he’s joining in just for laughs. He might do things to cause more conflicts, but I’m curious about how he’s going to approach her. Maybe we’ll see this later lol.

  4. Awww I’m really liking Yusuke and Tsubaki in this volume, especially Yusuke because he didn’t get much spotlight in season 1… Here’s hoping he’ll have more spotlight in season 2! And I’m glad Tsubaki got better now, but unfortunately the same can’t be said to Azusa and Natsume ;_;

I feel bad for Ema too :( I’m hoping for the best, but the title IS ‘Brothers Conflict’ so I guess things might get worse…

Anyway, thank you for your summaries on the BC series! お疲れ! I have fun reading your summaries and I always look forward to your update :D

    • Hello, thanks for reading! (*´∀`*)
I’m actually surprised to see how much Yusuke has grown. We didn’t get to see this because he was pretty much unnoticed in the 1st season, but I’m glad to see both Tsubaki and him growing up. Ema was unfortunate enough to get caught between Azusa and Natsume’s (indirect) conflict, but since Tsubaki already talked to them… hopefully things won’t explode between them. Speaking of conflicts, I sense something between Fuuto and his idol group too… especially since Fuuto’s career seems to be improving.

      • I really love brothers conflict. Thank you so much for translating the first volume. I really am waiting for the second volume can you tell when you will translate it please ;)

  5. All my feels!!!! 。・゜・(/Д`)・゜・。

    This is so tragic…. ;__; Why is everyone fighting?! I know, that they all love Ema, but why do they not see, that it’s causing Ema so many troubles?? Please be considerate with your confessions!! Ema, I feel with you… You’re so torn and yet you still try to be considerate with your brothers… But since men are simple creatures, they will always misunderstand your intention, no matter how careful you are… Oh Ema… Can I just hug you? You can cry in my arms if you want… ;w;

    Yusuke’s development was so nice in this volume, I don’t even… He got much more calm and his feelings are so pure… If this novel ever gets a drama CD recording, I will cry buckets because of Hosoyan’s voice acting… ;w;

I’m kind of disappointed in Azusa and Natsume though, because they were so immature and angry at poor Emma, who wasn’t at fault at all… ;__; I know that especially Azusa and Natsume have kind of personal problems with each other, but please, don’t push your anger on Ema!!! Was Natsume always that short tempered? I don’t think so… I guess the stress due to work hit him or something? At least Tsubaki is mature enough to understand the situation and willing to help Ema. And Hikaru please stop fueling the fire for your own amusement…. T_T WHY YOU DO DIS???

GDI, what’s with that monk-guy??? ARE YOU FREAKIN’ KIDDING ME??? o.O RAPE IS A CRIME!!!! He should be the one, who should get rid of his “wordly desires”!! Kaname, please come back and PUNCH this guy GOOD!!! >_o<
Thank you for sharing the novels with us, Rin. Really, thank you!!!

    • Because the title is “Brothers Conflict”? xD

Neutral people like us can see that all of these confessions are troubling Ema, but a lot of people tend to be like that when they’re in love. Of course there are also people like Yuu-kun who doesn’t push his feelings onto her, and I think both Natsume and Azusa are just too pissed to think clearly in that situation. Actually, Natsume and Azusa don’t have any issues with each other before the event. It’s just a string of bad misunderstandings that initially comes from the make-up Hikaru put on Ema. Rather than short-tempered, I think it’d be more fitting to say that Natsume got burned with jealousy there… and he didn’t handle it very well. Azusa was angry because he only saw things from Tsubaki’s side, and he was too pissed to hear what Ema had to say.

Also, Hikaru is just that kind of person LOL. He also said something like that about enjoyment / amusement in life in the Short Stories book. I’m more curious about how he’s going to make a move on Ema from here, since he’s supposed to be a participant in this “second round” of Brothers Conflict.

Now for Chiaki, he doesn’t think of himself as a true “monk” anyway… so I don’t think those standards can be applied to him. Ema also asked if it’s okay for a monk to play in clubs, right? Chiaki brushed the question off saying he was just “working part-time”, so I guess he’s just that kind of person. He’s always been shady right from the first time he appeared, and looking at how he’s in a club surrounded by around 10 girls… it wasn’t that surprising, actually.

Thanks for reading too, I hope you enjoyed it. /o/

      • Well, I guess you’re right… Natsume totally burned with jealousy, because he saw her being beautiful for probably someone else’s sake and he just didn’t wanted to lose her to Tsubaki or Azusa… And he probably cornered her in the moment of his jealousy rage… >_<

I don't even know, if I really want to see Hikaru as a participant in this "game"… He might be dropping some more bombs among the brothers…. orz orz

And I want more Juli! Squirrel attack reloaded!! 8D 8D

        • Yeah, Natsume probably wouldn’t act like that if Tsubaki and Azusa weren’t at the event. Hikaru, this is all your fault LOL. He already burned the score sheet, but I don’t know… it feels like he’s still observing right now. Maybe he’ll make a move in the next volumes. I think he joined in just to troll his brothers even more though, so I hope he really falls for Ema. 8D

Speaking of which, Juli didn’t appear much in this volume… I miss him LOL.

  6. Finally ;__;
I’m so happy to read this *sobs*
Yusuke became more mature than ever, not bad red-head XD
I guess being in university made him grow up
Azusa seriously scared me, though O_O
and Natsume too *especially him!! I mean seriously? Apartment key? He’s the dangerous one, not Ema @_@ (he’s still my fav though XD)
What’s up with Chiaki, though? why is he so nosy about Kaname?
I guess a story won’t rise in climax if there isn’t some bad guy
who’s having an insufficient reason or no reason to harm others
I really can’t wait to see more, thank you SOOOOO much for the updates @w@

    • I think Yusuke has started growing up from the 1st season, we just didn’t notice since he kept getting shoved to the side LOL. As for Natsume, isn’t that normal? It’s not like he’s implying anything dangerous by giving her the key, but more like he’s indirectly asking her to visit him? :O

Well, to be fair Chiaki must have a reason for being like that. I don’t think he’s being a jerk for the sake of being one. It’s just we don’t know his background yet. Kaname seems like he might know something, so we might get some clues when he returns from training. Besides, the group date takes place in a club. Even if it’s not Chiaki, there must be dangerous men lurking around.

      • you’re right…I guess what’s awesome about novels is how they hide many things
for you to look forward to, in other words, mystery, when you think someone is a bad guy, they actually turn to be good sometimes. Can’t wait for volume 2 release :D
Thank you very much for your effort ^w^

        • Yeah, I think in the end it’s back to the issue they’re facing. Once they find a solution, it might change their perspective entirely. I’m looking forward to vol. 2 too. :3

  7. Kyaa!!!! Yusuke!!!! I <3 your mature side!!!!

I still like his tsundere personality but his mature side made me want to <3 him more!!!

*raises his rank to number 1*

also, tsubaki's great here! I also loved how he deal with natsume and azusa. I'm starting to change my perspective in him because of this chapter!

I'll wait for your review on the next volume!

    • Yeah, this volume improves Tsubaki’s image a lot after what he did last summer. I wish Yusuke gets more spotlight though, it feels like he grew up unnoticed due to all the conflicts going on LOL. The next volume will be out in June, but I’m planning to get it with vol 3 in August so it’ll take a while.

  8. I’m really disappointed at Azusa and Natsume (especially at Natsume since he’s my favorite!!) they’re cornering Ema! I hope they improve and have a much needed character development like Tsubaki and Yusuke!

And thanks for the summary! Keep us updated :D

    • It’s just a string of bad misunderstandings and desperation, so hopefully they’ll really listen to Tsubaki and stop cornering Ema. Azusa and Natsume have always been supportive all this time, so maybe it’s about time they get over it and grow up as a person like Tsubaki and Yusuke did. :3

Thanks for reading and keeping up with me! /o/

  9. I’ve waited so long. I freaking love you ☆_☆ anyway~ I dont mind Natsume and Azusa being pushy ┗( ̄▽ ̄ㆀ)┓=3 guess I like the pushy type like Toma? But Tsubaki, has remained on #1 since vol 1, I live that guy as much as Toma! _(≥∇≤)ノミ☆ yuusuke has matured alot (*^・^)ノ⌒☆ my rank for him is #2 now… ITSSOHARDTORANKTHEM! m(*T◇T*)m -cough- can’t wait for more~ and im still in love with Tsubaki (o・_・)ノ”(ノ_<。) (the one getting hit is me)

    • Thank you, and sorry it took so long. ੧(ó㉨ò♥)
LOL so glad to meet a fellow Tsubaki fan, since I still like Tsubaki a lot after what he did to Ema. It’s true that he went too far, but for some reason I just couldn’t hate him. Oh, and I know what you mean. It’s just too hard to rank them, especially since they keep improving at once. My #1 is Fuuto, but the rest keep rotating positions as the novels go on. (´・∀・`;)ゞ

  10. Thank you for the summary! :Yuusuke really shines in this volume, but Tsubaki seems to be getting Iori-like creepy. I’ve had a glimpse or two of the next few chapters, so I’m anticipating what is coming next!

    • You mean in the last extra chapter? xD I think it’s different though, since Tsubaki is more on the competitive side while Iori was… uh, dark. I’m not following Sylph, so I’m looking forward to see more development in the next chapters. /o/

  11. Been waiting for this summary thanks for translating in detail for non-Japanese readers who luv BC… I think the older bros will up their game in this season… rivarly between Hikaru, Ukyou and Masomi maybe, I think we’ll get to see great character devlopment from Lori and Fuuto soon too can’t wait to see how Lori matures :)

    • Hello, thanks for reading! (*´∀`*)

It’s possible for Ukyou and Hikaru to clash. Hikaru loves trolling Ukyou, while Ukyou just can’t stand Hikaru LOL. Masaomi is more peaceful like Rui, but I think he might get affected if Wataru starts making a move on Ema. Either way it sounds interesting, so hopefully the older group (aside from the triplets) get more focus in the 2nd season.

As for Iori… there’s a scan on tumblr that shows him as a possible threat for Fuuto’s career.

    • Yeah, Yusuke put his spotlight to a really good use… but I hope this isn’t the only moment for him to shine. I’d love to see more of him, since he’s always so supportive towards Ema despite being shoved aside repeatedly in the 1st season.

  12. This…this…oh, this is so depressing but so addicting and so exciting at the same time. T^T I love all the brothers and I’m so proud of them for being mature…especially Yusuke and Tsubaki. I loved Tsubaki before but now I just want to cry for him.
And Natsume and Azusa, I was upset, especially with Natsume since he was one of my favorites. :|
Shame on you, Na-chan! But Azusa’s anger I can understand though.

    • On the other hand, I can understand Natsume’s anger more than Azusa’s. Mostly because I think it’s unfair for Azusa to snap at Ema without even asking for the reason, and none of those was her fault to begin with. I also feel that Azusa is taking out his anger towards Natsume on Ema, especially because Tsubaki seemed to notice this as well. ;___; Glad to see Tsubaki and Yusuke’s development though, hopefully the rest of them will also grow as a person.

  13. L-licks…remaining….lipstick? fangawhialdkgalhn HIKARU I’M PRETTY SURE LIPSTICK DON’T TASTE GOOD (or at least mine don’t OTL) Thanks so much for this!!! _<!! Her almost getting choked was scary! D: Yes Yusuke to the rescue! Can't wait for future volumes to come out :D

    • LOL I know right. Some lipsticks / lipgloss have sweet or fruity taste, but still… I don’t think you should lick it on purpose, Hikaru. Thanks for reading and commenting too, let’s hope for more character and story development in the next volumes! :D

    • Yeah, I just saw this yesterday! :D
Still not too happy about the design, but I’ll just shut up and watch LOL. Thanks for the link.

      • I agree about the design, it should have been 100% like Ukyo-sensei’s style,
but it can’t be help, I guess….let’s focus on the episodes and hope they cover the story
        in an awesome way >w<
        You're more than welcome :D

  14. Hi, I loved this novel and would like to know if is there a english version of this to buy.
:3 Thank you for your hard work.

  15. Hi! I wanted to thank you!! I started to read the blog because of the anime but I’ve fell in love Natsume and then I couldn’t stop reading more xD I’m not good in japanese and I’m sorry if I wrote something wrong in english but I am brazilian and buy novels here is difficult and really expensive then I’m really glad to have known your blog! Thanks o///

    • Hello! /o/
No problem, glad to hear you enjoyed it. It’s hard for me to buy Japanese novels too since I don’t live in Japan, but I still import them anyway LOL. Thanks for reading.

  16. I think I have not commented before, but wanted to say I’be been lurking your blog for some months now and wanted to thank you for the HUGE work you’re doing by writing these summaries :D My Japanese is still not as good and can’t get to reading light novels yet so you’re a really BIG help to all of us :3

    • No problem. Thanks for reading too. :3
Also, good luck with learning Japanese. It takes time getting used to, but it’s fun once you start understanding the language. /o/

  17. Hai hai~ since this is my first time posting, I’d just like to thank you for all these awesome and detailed summaries. Without this blog, I might’ve been dead by now “orz

Secondly, is there an option to turn off mobile view or something o.o ? Cause I’m just sitting here trying to re read the routes (I need my daiy dose of smexyness) and it doesn’t load. I mean, the rest of the page does, like the comments and the date/title but the post itself doesn’t load :c

    And to the novel….
GREAT JOB YUSUKE FOR SAVING EMA FROM THAT CREEPY… Stalker… Weirdo person and for comforting her the rest of the way. (*^*)b
I like you a lot more than before xDD

And poor Ema with that Azusa and Natsume problem. :c I don’t feel for her (I’ve never had 13 brothers like me before xD) but I feel bad for her. But then again it’s CONFLICT, in the end it’s probably going to be some happy ending //shotdead

A great first novel, can’t wait for the next ones. Thanks again c:

    • No problem. Glad to hear it helps. xD
If you’re on mobile, you can scroll all the way to the bottom and click on “view full site”. That should turn the mobile layout off.

I’m sure Ema is just as confused as we are. She never had any siblings before, then she suddenly got 13 brothers and most of them are in love with her LOL. I feel bad for her too, since she didn’t do anything wrong. It’s just her actions triggered a lot of conflicts she never expected, so she has to be more careful with her words and actions. I’m sure it’s gonna be a happy ending too, but I still can’t predict who she’s going to end up with. That’s the fun part, I guess. 8D

  18. Thank you so much for your BroCon’s posts >w< I've been reading them for a while now :D
I feel kinda sad for the triplet.. I know Natsume is not their identical twins, but I get this feeling that Azusa doesn't really care about him as much as he cares for Tsubaki… And it's just too sad for me since they are actually triplet. Ah sorry for saying this but Natsume is my #1, so probably my comment is just because he's my bias XD But I hope the triplet will get better :)

Hmm, I think maybe it's only me but I just can't like Ema.. For one and other reasons she somehow gets on my nerve.. Not as much as I don't like Tsukiko from Starry Sky, but she still one of those annoying heroine to me :P No offense, I do like heroine from other otoge such as Fiona from BWS.. Anyway, it's just my personal issue :P

Btw, Yusuke you ROCK! His point of view about love just amazing! True love is all about giving, not receiving. Even though he must've hurt by it, he still accepted it. You really make me proud!!! *sniffs*

Once again thanks for these wonderful summaries m(_ _)m

    • Thanks for reading and commenting too. :D
      Natsume isn’t my #1, so you’re not biased there. We can clearly see Tsubaki and Azusa don’t care for Natsume as much as they do for each other, and they use “identical twins” as the reason for their closeness. It seems like Natsume himself understands this, but I still feel bad for him when they neglect him like that… especially since he’s always willing to help because they’re triplets. The conflict between Tsubaki and Azusa has been solved, but looks like a crack between Azusa and Natsume is starting to appear… ;___;

      • It’s sad to think that in spite of being “triplets”, neither Tsubaki nor Azusa do much to care or respect Natsume as their equal. I mean they may care for him on some level but it isn’t the same as they do with each other.
I think that Tsubaki’s position as a “twin” means that Azusa is more lenient on him but being a “triplet” doesn’t spare Natsume from receiving the brunt end of the stink of Azusa’s dislike/anger (which are all fuel more by their conflict and jealousness regarding Ema). (」゚ロ゚)」

  19. Thank you for translating the novel then posting it here :’)
I been dying to read the light novels but
Poor Japanese ;-; my poor Japanese
So yeah thank you for these summaries :D
    YOURE AWESOME (≧∇≦)

  20. I have just finished reading all of your BroCon summaries, and WOW! I can’t wait to read more. I was waiting for Kaname to be your typical flirt through all of this, i did not expect Iori to be so angsty, and If i were ever in Ema’s position, there would be a lot of flipped tables.

    • I think if the issue with Iori didn’t occur, Kaname would still be a typical flirt. Passion Pink did a good job showing that side of him. xD I agree that Ema is so nice, but she’s much more cautious in the 2nd season… so it makes me feel bad when she gets caught up in a conflict LOL.

      • So true about Ema, guess that she is completely inexperienced in these sorts of situations hence why she was blindly nice and didn’t clarify many of the misunderstanding caused by her bona fide actions. I think that the phrase “every good deal has a catch” would be quite appropriate to Ema’s unique situation in that she was really excited and looking forwards to having and being part of family, only that the poor girl never expected them to even fall in love with her. I also think that at the beginning Ema is star-struck at the “wonderful” family she has and respects them all a lot which explains why she struggles to find the best way to deal with all of their romantic advances without disrupting the family harmony.

        • Yes, exactly. It seems like a lot of people don’t even get why Ema doesn’t reject them the hard way, but it’s all to protect the family harmony. She knows choosing one of them will hurt the rest too, and she’s really afraid of ruining the bond between them. She even said it herself that even if they don’t look close, brothers will always have a bond connecting them… and she doesn’t want to destroy it.

  21. First of all, thank you so much for providing summaries to the BroCon novels! Secondly, sorry for the long post! :D

Aah, I love the brothers! I’ve started watching the anime and I think the seiyuus did a great job! (such a great cast too!) Though Wataru’s voice doesn’t quite seem to fit….

I must say, I somehow feel really proud of Yusuke ;___; He’s really matured, even if mostly in the background lol The novels seem to put a lot of focus on especially the triplets, so I’m glad he gets his time to shine in this volume. Looking forward to more of him!
That aside, I do hope we get to see more of some of the other (neglected) brothers too (what are you doing, Masaomi? T-T). It doesn’t even have to be anything romantic; I would be happy with just some brotherly affection x3

Tsubaki was really precious in this volume too! His talk with Ema really showed how much he’s matured too. And I loved the side story with him & Yusuke! Also, the Fuuto bit in this volume was just too cute! Such a cheeky guy!

I find Kaname really admirable (and so wise! :O). Kinda sad to see him trying to give up on Ema. Though I’m guessing he’ll fail as soon as he comes back lol but to be honest, I wouldn’t mind more brotherly figures for Ema (like in Rui’s and I guess Ukyou’s case? I love their interactions with her! But I’m willing to bet that this is going to change too xD). I’m curious as to what Iori is up to.
Hopefully, Kaname & Iori will return soon~

Also, I feel bad for Natsume. Sometimes, it feels like Tsubaki & Azusa don’t take his feelings into consideration. And it seems like Natsume doesn’t really have any brother he’s really close to, now that his relationship with Subaru has turned sour (and because Natsume lives apart, but maybe it’s just me? Though Natsume’s not the only case, it’s most apparent probably because he’s one of the triplets). So I really hope the two of them can work this out. Especially since it seems like Natsume’s getting into conflict with Azusa too.

I think Subaru has grown a bit too (if you consider his latest conversation with Ema), but maybe it’s just because he’s kind of keeping his distance right now?

So far, I think Ema is most likely to end up with one of the triplets or Kaname (even if the latter is miles away! lol). They seem to be the closest to her at the moment? Though I actually wish that she’s not going to end up with anyone lol Cause it would make me feel really bad for everyone else ._.

Anyway, I’m dying to know Ukyou’s story! Like, what’s the deal with his ex-girlfriend? And also (if that ever gets revealed) why Rui is able to communicate with Juli. And of course, Fuuto & his idol group! >_<
I'm curious: Has anyone of her brothers ever called her Ema?

Again, thank you for your summaries. Looking forward to future summarizations!

    • Ahh, no problem and thanks for the long comment. It means a lot. xD I’ve heard similar comments about Wataru’s voice, but I think Kaji did a great job portraying Wataru’s childlike and pampered personality. Or maybe I just got used to it after the character CDs.

Similarly to you, I feel really proud of Yusuke in this volume. His growth was completely overshadowed by all the conflicts between his brothers, so I’m really glad they gave him the spotlight here. Some of the brothers are more conservative than the others, and that makes it feel like they’re being neglected… but I agree. It seems that Wataru has become more aware that his love for Ema is romantic, so I’m curious as of how Masaomi will react to that. Hopefully we’ll get to see him getting more scenes soon. :3

Oh, the second volume’s cover features Fuuto and Iori… so I think we might see Iori again there. I heard that Kaname is going to return as well in later chapters, and since their issue seem to be resolved already, I’m looking forward to see what they’re going to do from here. It seems like the triplets are still taking the main portion of the story though. I agree that Tsubaki and Azusa always seem to leave Natsume out of their own circle, and it makes me wonder if Natsume ever feels lonely because of this…

Speaking of which, his issue with Subaru didn’t get a proper closure either. But then again just as you said, Subaru seems to have matured since then. I think it’s mainly because he was able to accept Ema’s current answer (that she can’t choose anyone because they’re a family to her), so he’s supporting her while waiting for her final answer to his confession. I like his rivalry with Yusuke though, it’s so healthy compared to all the conflicts going on around them. :D

According to Hikaru’s chart, the triplets are the one closest to Ema. Kaname and Iori are “out” of the game, but that was for the first season. Hikaru himself hasn’t made any moves either, so I guess we can look forward to it. 8D I’m really curious about Ukyou’s past too. From “Early Days”, his ex Reiko sounds REALLY demanding. Hikaru also said that she has the worst personality ever, but what actually happened to Ukyou was never revealed… I hope they’ll go further into this aspect instead of just showing vague hints.

Also, the brothers never call her name. “Ema” is the name made by the BroCon team, but they decided not to use it in the novels for those who want to self-insert. It’s the default name in the game though.

  22. thank you so much Rin-san!!^^
first, I know brothers conflict from anime and I see from wikipedia, there’s a novel too. You know, to searching novel translations (especially Japan) is sooo difficult! but I’m really really glad to found you, your blog Rin-san XD

I think brothers conflict at first is boring, but since I read the novel…. I like it, oh… I LOVE IT! REALLY<3 the conflict make me curious what's happen in the next volume, I'm thinking…

what if the 13 brothers one of them is Ema REAL brother? I just knowing Rui who adopted like Ema and I curious… why he call Ema 'chii', because of Juli?

for Ukyou, I'm really curious about his past but I don't want him to fall in love with Ema because Ema never choose him although he's reliable personality.

I take a look brothers conflict passion pink, and Masaomi arc it's end with he married Ema, and Ema is pregnant of his child. so there's possibility for him. Masaomi will take the challenge too, with Ukyou, and Hikaru, maybe Kaname will join again someday :D

for me, there's possibility for Masaomi, the triplets (Natsume HAVE high possiblity), Kaname, Yuukun, Subaru, (Fuuto, I'm not sure) to get Ema.
I really like Fuuto words to challenge his brothers (they’re dreaming if they think they can obtain her, since they never entered her field of vision to begin with. -1st Season Vol. 7)

I want to ask you, is Natsume who show up last? or Hikaru?

if I become Ema, I can't bear the brothers feelings. too much good boys love for her, and they're her brothers. good luck for Ema!! I will support you~ (join with Juli and Rui hihi)

    • Hello, thanks for the comment. Translating is hard work, especially because novels are so different from manga. It’d take a lot of time to translate the whole thing, so summaries are the only thing I can provide. :3

Yeah, at first I thought BroCon is your usual romance comedy too… but the novels turned out to be much heavier / more intense than I expected. Especially after the incident involving Iori in vol. 3. As for Ema’s real brothers, she has none. I don’t think Rui is her real brother either. Her mother died not too long after giving birth to her, and her father died when she was really young. If she had siblings, it’d be weird for Rintarou to just take her in and put her siblings in an orphanage. Oh, and yeah Rui called Ema “Chii-chan” because of Juli.

Actually, Ema never “chooses” Ukyou because he never made a move on her. Not all of the brothers are attacking her aggressively. Some of them prefer to stay in the background and treat her like a sister, knowing that the others are troubling her with all the conflicts. To be fair, I think everyone has a chance to end up with Ema. It all depends on how they’re going to act from here on.

In the novels, Natsume appeared first. Ema met him at Miwa and Rintarou’s wedding, while Hikaru came much later after Iori’s hospitalization. I wrote about this in the novel summaries, so you can read them for more details.

      • sou^^ so you translating the novel Rin-san? yeah, I know it’s hard. I study japanese, I think too much kanji haha XD

by the way, where do you buy it? because I think you’re is easy to get them hehe
but if I choose, Tsubaki is so aggressive towards Ema. at anime, I think Tsubaki-Azusa is gay haha (I think too much).

        • I’m not. I’m just summarizing them. There’s not enough time to translate everything. xD I bought the books from HMV, though vol. 7 was from CDJapan since it was sold out everywhere. Also, Tsubaki and Azusa are not gay. They just love each other a lot because they’re twins, and they have a connection they can only share with each other.

      • I wonder if some of the brothers (eg. Masaomi, Ukyo, Louis, Kaname, etc) know about how some of their brothers are causing the poor girl all this myriad of troubles why don’t they do something about it? I don’t mean for them to to solve these problems for her but at least try to tell their brothers not to be too selfish or pushy with Ema? or at least they could remind her that they are for her to talk to if she needs too?
I know that it’s not in Ema’s nature to confine her troubles and worries on anyone but it would be nice if they did try to protect her a bit? Dx

        • I believe they are aware, yeah. It doesn’t seem like they know the details, but they know Ema is troubled by some people in the family. I think the main reason why they don’t take action is because they’re not directly involved, and Ema doesn’t want to share either. She tries to solve her problems alone, so the best thing they can do is to be there for her when she needs a place to rest. It doesn’t help that the last case of “stopping brother from bugging Ema” didn’t end well either. *looks at Iori and Kaname*

  23. Thank you very much for the summaries!

It’s still ongoing, right? I’m just paranoid. After reading all the conflicts throughout the series, I hope that I’m wrong about my suspicions, that the novel ends without any guy chosen by Ema -_-” I mean, I would really get pissed if the novel ends without her choosing the guy whom she truly likes amongst the brothers, even if it’s because of the family or not, I won’t take such excuses…. We’ve been reading the summaries with the plot going back and forth, with a lot of conflicts of their affection towards Ema… I hope that the ending won’t turn out that way -_-“

    • Yes, it’s still ongoing. I’m not sure who she’s going to end up with either, but I hope they’re not going for a family ending after all these conflicts. Actually, I can see them doing that since Ema seems to love the thought of having a complete family… but hopefully not. They’re all madly in love with her, so I think some of these conflicts would be meaningless if she doesn’t choose one of them… because the cause was their feelings towards her. :/

  24. Thank you for upload !
Omg tsubaki … i was think if tsubaki and azusa are … couple but i realized if they’re boys . …. lol
    Uugh i want fuuto routes (((( ^ q ^ )))) .

    Go team fuuto! (( ^ q ^))/

  25. I have found my rankings! (Although they may change… (T_T)
    #1 – Tsubaki~ (Thats never going to change ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆)
#2 – Yuusuke (He jumped soooooo high since he matured so much (^▽^))

#6 – (I cant bare to put one of them last, SO ALL THE REST ARE 6TH thats technically not last ~(=^‥^)/)
Jeez I love this novel ☆ ̄(>。☆) But in the enitre universe theres only 2 guys who are first
    Tsubaki and Toma XD
    Yes call me cray-cray (⊙△⊙✿)

  26. when will be the released of brothers conflict season 2 volume 2? i can’t wait…..its getting more exciting, nerve wrecking and heart stopping………………please release soon the 2nd volume….thankssssssssss…………….

  27. I just found your blog about Brothers Conflict last night and read through all the summaries you have posted so far. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this, since I can’t read Japanese and can’t find any English translated versions of the novel, I am so thrilled to find these summaries. I have been watching the anime and that is what lead me here. I thought I knew who my favorites were in the beginning, but now I am finding it so hard to choose which brother I want her to end up with the most. After reading these though I have now added Natsume to my list of favorites and I can’t wait to read your summaries on the next two volumes in August or September! Thanks again for your wonderful writings and for doing this for the fans of the novels and anime!

    • Hello! :3
Brothers Conflict is a novel and not manga, so I think it’s highly unlikely to get scanlated. There’s just too many words in them, and it’d take a lot of time to translate everything. That’s why I can only give you summaries at best, but glad to hear you enjoyed them. :D A lot of people seem to love Natsume (myself included) since his connection to Ema is more vivid compared to the others, but yeah it’s really hard to choose a favorite in this series because everyone is so charming. xD Thanks for the encouraging comment, and I’ll do my best to summarize vol. 2 and 3 when I receive them.

  28. Million thanks for the translations/summaries… Really appreciate it since I hardly find the novels in my country and I can’t read Japanese. Love BroCon very much <3

  29. Really thank you so much for translating these! By the way, do you write the summaries after you read it through once for yourself? As in the first readthrough is for self pleasure, then read it over again and writing the summary as you go.

    • Yeah! I always read it first to avoid misinterpretation. There are some things that’s only explained at the very end, so I want to make sure that no misunderstanding occurs along the way. :D

  30. Hello! First of all I want to thank you for taking your time to write these summaries, I’ve been reading them as I wait for my books to arrive…

I saw in quite a few comments above about becoming disappointed in Natsume because of his actions. Since I also starting buying Sylph recently, there was an interview with the author in one of the BroCon Master Guides that mention why Natsume seems to be losing his cool in the second season. It’s simply because he’s desperately and deeply in love with Ema, and there is no way to express that love except to make him more aggressive. Somehow with that explanation, I feel like I can cheer Natsume on more… And as far as I’ve seen, he’s never been too pushy, and if he is, there’s a very good reason for it (in the latest chapter, he can’t help it for certain reasons).

Agh sorry for the rant about Natsume, it’s because he’s my favorite and I’m rooting 100% for him as well. And it makes me sad that people would become disappointed in him. He hasn’t changed, but he’s always felt bad about being half-assed, and this time he’s not planning on letting Ema go.

    • Hello! Thanks for taking the time to read these posts.

Natsume’s desperation is actually rather similar to Tsubaki’s back in season 1, except Natsume is much more sensible than Tsubaki was. We also saw the hints at the very end of vol. 7, when he kissed Ema on the enck. I think we all know Natsume snapped because he’s so in love with Ema, but I guess not everyone can accept that kind of treatment? Personally, I was more :/ towards Azusa since he didn’t give Ema any chance to explain. In the end, I think it’s a matter of tolerance… but glad to hear you’re faithfully supporting Natsume. :3

  31. Just curious, aren’t you gonna play Brilliant Blue game? Cause I re-read the earlier volumes of Passion Pink and realized that just like Iori, Ukyou probably has a story of his own too. Like his ex-girlfriend, Reiko. Haha.

Can’t wait for vol. 2 of season 2 (novel). :)

  32. Hi Rin :)
I just found your blog today and I already read all summaries about Brothers Conflict (I’ve been watching the anime). I’m really thankful to you for these translations :P and I’m waiting for the next chapters.

I guess I’m the only one, but from the beginning of the anime my favorite brother is Subaru and I hope he appears more be the chosen one.

Congratz for your great work :)

    • Hello! Subaru’s got quite a lot of fans actually. He’s one of the more understanding brothers, so a lot of people think he’d be a great match for Ema.

      • I’m surprised to hear that Subaru has “quite a lot of fans”. ⊙▂⊙ is this in the Japanese, Chinese, or Western fandoms?
I always thought that some people who label Subaru as a “sports dork” or something :/ (that is what I frequently read about him in other sites).
I wonder what other qualities does Subaru that appeals to his fans?

        • He does! :D A lot of my friends are really into Subaru, because as Andy said, he’s innocent and really cute when he gets blushy around Ema. I see his fans mainly in the English-speaking fandom, but I’m pretty sure he’s got quite a lot of fans in Japan too.

    • From what I know about the novel 2nd season volumes 1-3 are already published.
      I don’t know when the novel 2nd season volume 4 will be published? ;w;
(I’ve come late into the BC fandom so I wouldn’t know about the time span between the publishing of each volume)
      Hope this helps?

  33. What happen to Ema and Tsubaki relationship because I couldn’t remember what he did? Why has her feeling change for Tsubaki, Natsume and Azusa? [removed due to spoilers] Is that true? They know that she doesn’t have the same feeling on how she use to love them and that her love for them has drop. They know that she love them as her brother which will never change and they love her as a sister and will support her on whoever the brothers she love the most. They know that she having difficult time. But I wonder why they gave us too many different ending I am so confuse?

    • Umm… Sorry, but can you please not mention the contents of chapter 35? Because as you can see, I haven’t even received vol. 2 and 3 yet. I’m afraid I can’t answer you question because I haven’t read that far, and I always wait for the books to get the special chapters so I’m not following the new chapters on Sylph… I’ve been avoiding the BroCon tag on Tumblr because of spoilers, so please don’t spoil me about new chapters… ;_;

        • Yeah, the “Side [name]” chapters are exclusive to the novels. The ones in Sylph are the main chapters, the numbered ones. Sometimes the special chapters give hints, so I prefer reading them between the main ones. Which is why I’m sticking with the novels. :D

  34. I’m so grateful for your summaries they always make my day! :D
Thank so much rin we love you! ^-^ by the way i’m also team fuuto so i love you even more! xD
    (sorry for the weird english)

    • Aww, thanks! (*ゝω・)ノ アリガ㌧♪
Fuuto doesn’t get a lot of fans, mainly because of his attitude and how the anime portrays him, so glad to hear you like him too. 8D

  35. i really enjoyed reading it…….i support all of them….nut personally i feel like there is more romance between natsume and ema…..but not really sure……well anyway the summaries are great…..can’t wait for the next volume….. :)

    • Yeah, there seems to be more hints and chemistry going on between Natsume and Ema… but I’m not really sure if that’s how they’re going to settle things. We’ll see soon enough. :D

  36. I love your summaries! :D

Thank you so much for writing these and it’s completely fine, if you are not able to write a new summary. We all have our real life, so I can totally relate to you! ^0^

I really like how you describe things, it’s easy to understand the characters!
I also can’t wait to read your summaries because I read some spoilers and they’re killing me! :(
It would be nice to read your opinion…

So far Natsume is my favorite, I don’t think I can resist him. xD
But I like all the brothers, so yeah~ :D

    • Hello~ :D
Thank you for understanding, because having people rushing you to do it is really demotivating. But then again there are nice people like you who understands that real life takes priority, so I’ll do my best to get the next volumes and summarize them when they come. /o/ Unfortunately, I’ve been spoiled for Chapter 35 too… so that took out one of the surprise. Hopefully we won’t get spoiled any further than this, because the surprising turns of events is one of the things I like from Brothers Conflict.

Ooh, and another Natsume fan! Natsume seems to be the fans’ and writers’ favorite. xD

  37. I just noticed something when I bought second season vol2 . There are 3 characters appears in one volumn (2 on the front side and 1 on the back side).
That makes me think that there’s a chance that second season will end at 5 or 6 vol.

Are the first season volumns like this? Because I don’t have any of first season novel. And who appeared on the back side of second season vol.1? I want to prove my theory (~_~;)

    • Yeah, Hikaru is on the back cover of vol. 2. It’s the same for the first season actually, because the cover of vol. 7 was Ema. The brothers were divided into pairs for the covers of vol. 1-6, but vol. 5 also has 3 characters on the cover—Masaomi, Wataru and Rui. The first season novels only have profile pictures on the back cover, so no “hidden” characters like Hikaru. :3

      • Maybe there’s a chance that 2nd season will end at vol.5 and I heard the rumor that it will end at vol.5 . I think if there are only 5 vol. It might be good for Natsume fan (Is it counted to be spoilers?).

and So far I’m Natsume fan xD

        • But all the brothers wouldn’t fit into the covers if they make it 5 volumes, right? Unless they put 3 people for each book, like they did with vol. 2? xD

          • I found 2nd vol.3 also has 3 characters (Kaname, Rui and Wataru). So besides Yusuke and Tsubaki, is there another character in 2nd vol.1? (on the back side).

But finally, who will know how this series end. ~_~

          • So say, if I buy the actual novel books I would get these “Side [name]” chapters?
I also feel greedy admitting that I wish that the 2nd season has as many volumes as the 1st Dx (maybe I’m the only one? or I just love this novel a bit too much Dx)

        • I’m sorry to ask you this. But, why did you said that she might end up with natsume if there is only 5 vol.??
          Btw, he is my fav!!

          • Because up to that point, Natsume looked like he had the lead. He also got Ema to kiss him when he got a fever? I think.

        • First of all, I would like to say thanks for summarizing brocon. I just found this blog after finishing the anime and just done reading it. You have just saved my life as it is to find translated japanese novel. Your way of summarizing is amazing. I can easily understand it without even reading the whole novel.
The novel is much better than the anime. So, I will be looking forward for your summary.
Truthfully, I was a bit disappointed in azusa and natsume. But, after giving much thought to it. I realised that I can understand why natsume did that and I still support him. ( maybe because he’s my fav) but, what azusa did is a bit inconsiderate of him.

Yuusuke and tsubaki change a lot for ema. I am glad for this development. Can’t wait for the next volume.

Eventhough I said that, I understand that you need time to do this. Anyway, once again I would like to say thanks. You really did a great job!

          • Thanks, glad to know these posts helped you even though it’s just summaries and not full translations. :D

I agree on Natsume and Azusa. By the end of vol. 7 of the first season, Natsume has made it clear that he doesn’t want to play siblings with Ema. Azusa, on the other hand, just… blamed her without considering how she felt in that situation. That’s what I didn’t like, and it actually made Tsubaki’s growth much more prominent.

Also, I’ve re-ordered my lost books so I might start summarizing Brothers Conflict again soon. :3

  38. Thanks for these summaries! I hope you finish you RPG backlog! I have a LONG BACK LOG TOO
    well,

I would just like to ask, With the season two, and one, it’s mostly Natsume who has the most looking chemistry. It’s not like I hate Natsume, He’s my favorite along with the twins, but I would like to have someone’s opinion on this. What do you think will happen if Natsume or the other brothers with a high chance with Ema, would quit? In my opinion, I think that would change the game dramatically and the odds would definitely change entirely!
although, I would get a fangirl fit if it did actually happen 8D

    • It’s going to depend on Ema’s feelings too, but yeah, I agree that it’d bring a drastic change into the story. In fact, it already changed once—when Iori and Kaname “quit” the game. It seems like the triplets are the closest to Ema before Hikaru reset the score, and looking at how complicated things are between them… if they give up on her, maybe it’ll give her enough chance and time to sort out her thoughts. I’d probably cry if Natsume gives up on Ema though. xD

  39. i just found thiss aww and i’m glad thank you so much >< ahh and i read in wiki that in [removed due to spoilers] ? i'm always wondering who will get ema at the end hehe :D btw thank you again <3

  40. Well, you have made my vacation. I have just recently watched the BroCon anime because of a friend’s request, and fell in love with the characters. Or at least I thought I did then. Through a series of google searches for a second season, then on to a scan of the novels, ’twas fate that led me to these summaries.
For the past few days (yay free time on vacations~) I have been reading these and have fallen in love with these characters all over again. The ammount of depth and plot that you don’t get in the anime is shocking, but made me ten bagillion times more happy to have found these. I mean sooooo many things suddenly make so much sense and everything is so wonderful and angsty and UGH MY FEELINGS HURT. THIS STORY MAKES MY FEELS HAVE FEELS.
I mean Kaname and his deal where he has gained so many respect-cookie-points, and Natsume who previously was my forerunner for this has suddenly gone all instinctual and unstable where on the other hand Ttsubaki has become thereasonable one and it is like they have switched places, then Azusa is become progressively more conflicted and confusing and this volume is just major curveball. Then there is the mention of ever-angsty-Iori so I have a feeling he will come back into the picture again and then god knows what he will pull. And I’ll stop now because I could go on and on about the rest of the brothers but I AM SO HAPPY YUSUKE FINALLY GOT TO PROFESS HIS FEELINGS BECAUSE I HURT FOR HIM ALL THIS TIME WHEN HE LOVED HER BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE AND NO ONE SEEMS TO TALK ABOUT HOW HE WAS THE FIRST. BUT HE WAS.
Sooooo yeah. Thank you soo very, very much for posting these. You are my hero. (And your little comments that you toss into the summaries that aren’t a part of the story crack me up. XD )
SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH KIND MADAME.

    • Y-You’re welcome. ゚+.(*ノωヾ*)ャン♪+゚
Thanks for reading and leaving a comment too!

Admittedly, I didn’t like the anime. Not too fond of the changes they made, even though I know they had to fit everything into 13 episodes. In the end I only watched Fuuto’s scenes for KENN, but my friends said some scenes lost their meaning because of the cut-off parts. Kaname is one of my favorites. I respect him a lot, and I hope people can see the real him beyond his flirty exterior LOL.

It’s interesting how the 2nd Season suddenly flips everyone’s positions, isn’t it? xD Natsume is losing his cool and things aren’t going well with Azusa, but Tsubaki receives a great development. Iori is on the cover for vol. 2, so I guess we’ll see him again in the next volume. Kaname is also on the cover for vol. 3, so we can expect his return too. :D

      AND YES YUSUKE YOU DID WELL. I wish he can get a happy ending in the novels, but I guess we have Passion Pink for that. ;_;

      • I cannot say that I did not like the anime simply because it is what introduced me to the fandom. What they did portray was done well, I think. I can see now the lost meanings and whatnot. It was interesting actually, watching the anime and all that it lacked, then reading these and really understanding some things that were not clarified or build upon in the anime. It was one of those “Woah, that totally makes sense now.” or “Wow, that goes so much deeper than I thought” moments. It was enlightening, really. ^^

I am very much excited to see what happens in season 2, I have a feeling it is going to be a MAJOR game-changer (literally. XDD ) for our favorite characters and I am very, very anxious to see what has changed or what hasn’t in our returners. I hope we get to see some more character arcs among the brothers and their interactions with each other, a lot of the past on them is clouded. I look forward to seeing what is in store for our dear old brothers and heroine Ema!

  41. hi i started reading ur blog since yesterday and i love it there are so many things that i dont know which one to read, i found ur blog vile i was looking for the brothers conflict novel i wanted to know when is the next volume coming out and is it going to be made as an anime.
vile im waiting to come out can u point me to something intresting to read because there so many i dont kno where to start pls im looking forward to ur response

and sorry if im english is bad

    • Hello. My Brothers Conflict books are stuck in Japan because my proxy went on holiday, so I don’t know when the next volume will be up. As for the anime, I have absolutely no ideas since I didn’t keep up with the news. If you feel like reading more, feel free to check my master list here. I can’t say which ones are “interesting” or not, because it all depends on your taste. :)

  42. So, uhm, the season 2 will be releasing a streaming, right? I mean, it’ll be on episodes? When will it be? I’m so excited, since I was a little bit down because it has only 12 episodes. My favorite character is Iori, because he never showed his love to Ema. But then Kaname knew about it, which makes excites me because another rivalry between brothers. :) Thank you for creating such a wonderful story.

    • I’m not the one who wrote the story for BroCon, so I don’t know about the second season of the anime and such. I’m just a fan like you. xD

  43. I believe it in my heart that Subaru is the ONE for Emma!! It’s somehow easy to tell or maybe that is what I want for the story to end…Season 1 sizzled with chemistry between them, so I was wondering why Subaru was rarely mentioned in comments…

    • I think it’s because the novels tend to push Natsume x Ema until the very end LOL. Subaru’s developments with Ema are really subtle compared to how aggressive Natsume is.

  44. hi i really find your posts very detailed and interesting among all the others i’ve read on the internet.I was wondering if you have summaries for the brocon brilliant blue. I’m really looking forward for it

  45. Hi Rin! Thanks for all your hard-work. I appreciate you translating all these volumes of novels. I understand that you won’t be answering questions about BroCon, I would just like to ask if it would be possible, in the future that you would continue working on the summaries of the next volumes. I wonder what Season and volume is latest? BroCon is currently airing on Animax and I see it having more fans.. If you would continue translating the other volumes, i appreciate and will love you more! Hehe!

    • BroCon ends at season 2 volume 5.
As much as I want to continue, I haven’t received my books at all—hence the lack of updates.

    • Yeah, once I receive my books. They’ve been stuck with my proxy for so long, and it doesn’t seem like I’ll receive them anytime soon LOL.

  46. I love BroCon so much, I can’t believe the anime doesn’t have a second season already! XD oh well, maybe sometime soon. I hope you can get your books sometime soon because I really want to know what happens!!

    • Thank you, I hope so too. ;_;
Despite getting spoiled left and right, I still want to see how things develop before the ending hits LOL.

  47. Thank you for your effort and kindness to write the summaries out for us readers! :D
Will be looking forward to the next volume!
    Keep up the good work!

    • No problem, thanks for reading!
Lately I’m starting to wonder if I should give up on my lost books and buy new copies, so if I do end up buying new ones I’ll start working on the summaries again. :D

  48. Dammit i want to know what happens with Iori and Kaname, yuusuke so cute , love ur translating and thanks for the summary, hope u get your books now, like rly NOW, if only i could be a plane to delivery them *A*…. anyway thanks, i´ll be waiting for more BroCon meheheheh (*-*)9

    • Thank you. :D
Same here LOL. I’ve been considering getting new copies instead of waiting for the ones I’ve bought, because despite getting spoiled I still want to see how things develop between Ema and the brothers. Either way, I’ll start summarizing again when I get the books—be it new copies or not LOL.

  49. I’ve watched the anime and now I’m curious about the manga. After browsing, I found this :)
    thanks for the summaries ^^
    i love anime and BroCon too ;;

  50. hello, i just happened to visit your blog and thank you for your effort to write these awesome summaries :D
um if you dont mind being asked, what did you think about the ending? im sure you already got spoiled right ;; i honestly shipped subaru/ema from the very beginning and i was super happy when i first heard that they actually got together in the end (theyre even married and have a 3 y.o daughter named chitose omg) but what made me really upset was the fandom’s reactions about the ending. most of them were like ‘subaru wasnt good enough for ema’ and ’ema sure has bad taste for choosing subaru’ and other rude things like that (they even blamed the author and called her/him stupid) i know subaru may not be the best character but whats so bad about him? why does everyone hate him so much? i understand that people were sad because ema didnt choose their fav bros but i wish they would be more mature and respect the author’s choice. i remember one of them started a rumor about subaru and ema breaking up which wasnt funny at all.
omg sorry for my ranting on the comment section i just wanted to share my opinion and i hope anyone doesnt get offended by this.
    once again, thank you

    • Hello, thanks for commenting. :D

You’re actually the first person I’ve met who’s satisfied with BroCon’s ending LOL. As you can probably guess from my posts, I was a Natsume x Ema fan so I was slightly disappointed by the ending… but not exactly because of the pairing. It’s because they dropped a lot of Natsume x Ema hints throughout the series, while Subaru’s development is very, VERY subtle. If only they gave Subaru and Ema more moments together, I’m pretty sure I would’ve loved the ending 100%—no matter how much I love Natsume. Subaru has been waiting for Ema forever, so I was super happy for him that she finally returns his feelings. \(;___;)/

To be honest, I think the drama over BroCon’s ending was way too much. Sure, I was sad that my ship sank, but I wouldn’t burn the novels just because of that. Subaru is a nice guy, and he totally deserves Ema. I don’t get why people hate on him that much either, disliking the ending doesn’t mean you have to dislike the character too… I guess everyone is free to express their opinions, but they should at least think about how Subaru’s fans would feel seeing all the hate. :I

Don’t worry, your argument is perfectly understandable. I wish people could respect others more too before bashing a character for getting a happy ending.

  51. Hi, Miss Rin, I just wanted to say thank you for all the hard work you’ve put into translating the novels and the game. Not only do you write down what’s happening, you also do your best to make it an enjoyable and easily-flowing read. It’s really appreciated!

I also got spoiled for the ending, and I admit I was a bit disappointed that Ema chose Subaru in the end and not Yuusuke or Natsume, but that’s what fanfiction and fanart are for, right? Besides, the author must have thought long and hard to choose the best guy for Ema, and Subaru really is a nice, dedicated guy with whom Ema would feel comfortable and safe with.

I wonder if the novels will show the other brothers getting together with new ladies? Can you imagine what a lively place the condo would become with so many new family members? All the little cousins running around and playing would be a fun thing to see!

Once again, I’d like to thank you for your hard work. I hope you have as much writing as we do reading; it’s always a pleasure to read your summaries, and I’m crossing my fingers hoping you’ll get your books. They should send you new copies as an apology!

    • Hello, thank you for the comment! I’m sorry it took so long for me to reply.

For people who aren’t satisfied with the ending, they actually released different versions of manga for that. I didn’t exactly keep track of those so I’m not sure if ALL of them got one, but at least the triplets, Yusuke, and Fuuto got their own manga. Or if that’s still not enough, well… there’s also the games. :’D For that reason, I don’t think they’ll show the remaining brothers with new partners, but I agree that it’d be fun to see. Especially since they’re such a large family.

Glad to hear you enjoy reading these posts, they were indeed fun to write. I still haven’t gotten my books yet to this date, but I’m trying to work it out by using different stores / proxies. I’ll get back to summarizing the rest of the novels once I get them. :3

  52. I don’t want to bother you, or be mean. It’s just….I want to ask….if you can tell me…..will you upload the next volume?

  53. ..thank u Rin.
hope your books would arrive soon be waiting for the next volume..
……though i was spoiled by the ending already i’m happy w/ the result since im shipping for subaru/ema well at 1st i wasn’t paying attention too much on subaru but that innocent guy just have its own way that pure/cute love is just soo romantic though im just a bit disappointed since subaru and ema’s moments are only short, rather a lot more on natsume that anyone would think ema would choose him & those reactions coming from her w/ those guys are too vague..anyway each fan has their own pairing bets but its too sad 4 them too make hate & harsh comments since i like subaru’s character the way it is (sorry 4 being biased)..let’s respect the author at least..

    • Yeah, that’s exactly why I’m not entirely happy with the ending. Subaru x Ema is cute, but the development between them was so subtle that it drowned behind all the Natsume hints. You know, with the “destiny” and stuff. I agree though, as fans of the series we have to respect the author’s decision. Even if you’re not happy with the final pairing, there are lots of spinoffs for the other guys anyway. Not to mention two games where you can ship Ema with every single one of the Asahina brothers. Seeing Subaru getting bashed just because of the ending makes me sad. ;-;

  54. ..thanks Rin for the summaries.
hope your books would arrive soon.
,,,im looking forward to see the development w/ the BROCON. Though i was spoiled with the ending on who ema ended with reading it on some website..i was happy because truth is im shipping ema & HIM..im truly surprised when seeing that because on the novel there are only short moments w/ them together rather it was more on nat-san that anyone would think they’ll end up together plus the fact that ema’s reaction towards the others guyz are vague..
.,,truly is i wasn’t paying much attention to HIM at first but that innocent pure love that i find it romantic that makes it.i just so love HIS character, he’s not putting too much pressure on ema that was cool.
..well everyone has there own pairing bet it’s just that lets respect the author’s choice of ending (sorry im being biased).

  55. I still don’t want to believe that HE ended up with Ema. I was really rooting for one of the triplets, Yusuke or Iori to end up with Ema (but I do know that Iori has a slim chance of ending up with her). I still feel sad about it but I really want to know how Ema ended up choosing him. I mean they don’t have many sweet interactions.

By the way, where do you order your books from? Do they have english translations? Advance Thank you for answering!

  56. Just a random thought. I like the way the brothers look in the manga more than what they look in the anime. :) Especially Natsume and Subaru! They look way better for me in the manga than in the anime. :))

  57. Bonjour je suis vraiment unintéresse par cet anime il est génial je voulais savoir quand il sortira en animé ou j espere qu il et sortie en manga bref pouvais vous le dire. merci

  58. Hello, Rin! Your blog has been sitting in my bookmarks for a few years now since the anime adaptation ended and I’m glad I remembered well enough to return! Thank you for sharing your summaries of the volumes for all of us to enjoy.

I admit that I’d hoped to find more volumes summarized but it’s certainly reasonable that real life would take priority or that postal service would go awry. And while I should be disappointed to have come across spoilers for the end of the series, I’m not at all disappointed with the Ema’s choice of partner at all! Yay my ship, although I have to admit my bias stems from the choice of seiyuu for THAT particular character. Biases aside, the subtlety in Ema and his interactions actually seem to be the most captivating and indelible.

I hope we can all somehow find a way to read what happens from after this volume until the conclusion either through your future summaries or someone else’s! Thank you again <3

    • Hello, thanks for reading and commenting! :D

At this point I’ve pretty much given up on getting the rest of the novels, because no matter which shop I buy them from, the order always ended up getting cancelled for various reasons. Maybe I should just look for them directly when I go to Japan. (。-_-。) Once I get my hands on them though, I will continue the summaries. So it all depends on the books.

Ah, it’s always nice to see people who actually support the end game pairing instead of bashing them. :’D I used to support Natsume (because I knew Fuuto x Ema isn’t going to happen in this lifetime) but at the same time I can see the development between Ema and her man of choice too. It was really, really subtle compared to how assertive Natsume was, but it’s definitely there. I just wish they had more scenes together since the development easily drowned behind all those stuff with Natsume due to its subtlety. (´;ω;`)

  59. Thank you soooo much for your hard work on these translations. Hope to have more soon… Can’t wait..!! I just got to know the ending, and it made me become more excited how the stories and the brothers grow onwards from this volume, and I can’t lie that I am so freakin’ happy to know the ending… hope to see new summaries soon.. 8D

      • Hi, regarding the books, I have the other volumes. I can’t understand Japanese, but I’ve always read your summaries and loved the series. So I bought the novels as a collection *hees* (//^^//). I know you’ve mentioned that your books order kept getting lost. Do you want me to scan them for you?

        • At this point I’ve given up on getting them, but since I don’t have much time to write nowadays, I’d rather not have you flattening your novels for me. xD No worries though, I’ll do the continuation one day. But that day is not today.

  60. I really feel sorry for Ema, having to deal with all of the brothers feeling and not having anyone to talk to about them and on top of that having to deal with the so called parttime monk must really scare the hell out of her. Wonder what would happen if Kaname finds out what that man did to Ema. It sounds like he might be a little jealous of Ema. This story is getting more and more interesting. Keep the story coming.

    • No. They did romanize his name as “Louis” but the actual writing in kanji is “琉生 / Rui”. It’s not a mistake, I simply went with that instead.

  61. Hi,
I’m french and your traduction of the second season of brothers conflict is the only one I found. So thank you very much 😊
Do you have resume the next volume please ? I like so much this anime and manga and I very very very would like to know what hapened next. 😁
Sorry for my bad english and thank you for your work and your help

  62. Did it stated where (the country) Iori studied? If I’m not mistaken he took English course right?

    Emo time!
Kaname… I totally went 360 degree changes after reading this. Please come back soon T^T as for Hikaru, I’m really hating him for some reason. He’s basically thinks this is a game and that kinda make me want to push him, strangle him and bring him back to Italy to fight a dangerous latino mafia boss coz’ I’m really losing my nerves (I mean I’m not mad of his intention of making Ema cute). Yuusuke FINALLY have a spotlight!! The poor red carnivore finally make a big thing in the series however, I’m a bit unsatisfied, what happen to Yuu-kun after this?! He finally confessed!!

BTW, there are rumors about BroCon making a second season but I wonder if that’s true? Did you know anything about this?

  63. what do you think….will Ema have a sister she DID NOT know a about , if so what do you think she will be like!!!! oh i read this and it was really nice of you to translate it since i don’t know Japanese…

    • No. Her parents died when she was small, so I really don’t think she’d have a sister. Otherwise Rintarou would adopt both of them instead of only Ema.

  64. Your summaries motivated me to buy the novels and start practicing my Japanese by reading it haha.
Is the Japanese in BroCon novels hard? I still rely on furigana 99% of the time except for really common kanji OTL
Thank you so much for all the hardwork doing these posts, waiting for more ♡

    • If you’re not familiar with kanji then it might be a little difficult, since not every kanji in the novel have furigana attached to them. It’s still a good method to learn though. :D
