Dot Kareshi -We’re 8bit Lovers!- III

The last installment of Dot Kareshi came out when I was busy with Rune Factory 4, and after that I kind of… forgot… to play it. Since Rejet has released new DHM novel games, I want to finish Dot Kareshi III before moving on with Ken ga Kimi.

ドットカレシ -We're 8bit Lovers!- Ⅲ ~やみのはなよめ~

Remember those days. You used to be a gamer who poured your entire youth into gaming. You used to stay up all night to raise your level, so much that your sleeping schedule got screwed and reversed… but those days are long gone. Your current life has nothing to do with games anymore. However, it only lasts until a mysterious power sends you on a trip to the game world. In Dot Kareshi Ⅲ: Yami no Hanayome, the game will bring you to Evil Lord, Slime, Dark Knight and Villager.

At the Lake

You open your eyes to someone poking your cheeks, asking you to wake up if you don’t want him to do all sorts of questionable things to you. He says was really happy when he found you lying on the ground, but since you weren’t moving at all… he was worried that you might be dead. In any case, he’s glad to see that you’re unharmed and asks if you know recognize him. He does look familiar to you, which makes him happy that you actually remembered him. This shady man is Villager, a… uh, villager whom you have met several times before. Including in the previous games, of course. (⊙ω⊙✿)

When you ask about where you are right now, Villager explains that you’re very close to the lake village. As the name says, there’s a lake nearby with medicinal herbs growing around it. That aside, Villager still finds it hard to believe that his wish really came true. It feels like a dream to him. He’s been wishing to see you again, and the god has granted that wish. Noticing that you’re confused, Villager asks if you came to this world without knowing anything. Since you really have no idea about what’s going on, he decides to explain the situation right from the beginning.

It all started when Villager went to forage herbs at the lake as usual. That day, he accidentally dropped his sickle into the lake… and out popped the god to ask about what he just dropped. Was it the golden bug? The silver bug? Or the wooden bug? (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ The god simply refused to accept “sickle” as an answer and forced him to pick one of the bugs, so he ended up choosing the golden one. Pleased with Villager’s “honest answer”, the god decided to give him an extra reward—because every product comes with extras nowadays. ✿*,(*´◕ω◕`*)+✿.* As the figure who rules this world, the god knows everything. Including the number of moles on Villager’s body—which Villager finds very disturbing—and of course the wish hidden in Villager’s heart. He then asked Villager to come and pray at the lake everyday, promising to grant that wish in return.

From there, Villager started visiting the lake everyday without fail—even during windy and rainy days. He nearly got pneumonia because of that, but apparently that didn’t stop him. Today marks the 100th day, and he found you—lying unconscious on the ground—on his way back from the lake. Now that he finally met you, Villager invites you to come to his house. ヾ(✿❛◡❛ฺฺ)ノ~❤ Like that’s not shady at all.

Noticing that you’re reluctant, Villager sadly asks you not to refuse. After all, he’s been praying at the lake for so long just because he wanted to see you. However, Villager soon realizes that he’s losing strength. It appears like he got careless. A slime is absorbing his HP, and it doesn’t take long until he eventually faints. Immediately after that, a young boy appears out of nowhere and apologizes for surprising you. He clearly knows you, but this is his first time seeing you in this form… so he wonders if you can recognize him. Since you’re obviously confused, the boy happily clings onto you and reveals that he’s actually Slime—the… uh, slime from earlier. When you comment that his body feels lukewarm, Slime giggles saying he can do other things to make you feel even better. Σ(゚ー゚;)

After getting up from the ground, Villager frowns and wonders why a slime is taking the form of a human. Slime answers that it was the god who changed him into one. He was terribly sad because he couldn’t see you, and he cried as he thought about you at the lake. Feeling sorry for Slime, the god popped out of the lake to ask about which bug he dropped. The golden bug? The silver bug? The wooden bug? ヽ(*´ー`*)ノ At first Slime misunderstood the question and said that he didn’t eat any insects, so the god had to make it clear that he was referring to game bugs LOL. Since the god told him to choose one, Slime decided to go for the gold bug.

The god was satisfied by how Slime honestly followed his greed, and so he told Slime to come and pray at the lake regularly—promising to grant Slime’s wish in return. Slime didn’t believe him right away though, as the most powerful being in his eyes is naturally Evil Lord. In order to prove his amazing power, the god decided to give Slime a tiny bug by transforming the latter into a human. Needless to say Slime was amazed, so he followed the god’s words by praying at the lake everyday. Today marks the 100th day, and his wish really came true—he finally met you. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ Villager, on the other hand, thinks the god is way too capricious for giving Slime a human form so easily LOL.

Slime then clings to you, happily asking you to become one with him. However, he’s interrupted when the sky suddenly turns gloomy. Just as Villager senses a dark presence nearby, Evil Lord appears with a loud, roaring laughter. Both Villager and Slime instantly recognize his voice, while he grins and orders them not to lay a hand on his prey—telling weaklings like them to know their place. The sad thing is that while they can hear Evil Lord’s laughter, they can’t see him at all… even though the poor thing has been standing behind them all along. (((壊゚∀゚)))ァヒャヒャヒャヒャヒャヒャ Even after the Evil Lord tells them to turn around, it takes quite a while before they finally see him. By the time they notice him, his voice has been reduced to a sad whimper. 。゚(゚ノ∀`゚)゚。アヒャヒャ

They wonder how did he go completely unnoticed since Evil Lord is supposed to appear with his dragon familiar, but he bitterly answers that he got all the way here on foot. After losing to you, he finds it really hard to use his dragon. Since Evil Lord looks weak and pale, Villager asks if he’s really THAT Evil Lord—to which Slime confirms that he’s indeed the real thing. Evil Lord decides to just ignore the insults though. He doesn’t really care about small fries like them, because he only has one target—you. He still can’t believe that you really appeared, but he can finally take his long-awaited revenge. Evil Lord looks REALLY happy when you tremble in fear, saying that’s supposed to be the correct reaction. He asks if his supreme magic power intimidates you, then he proudly laughs in victory. For now, anyway.

Evil Lord has been waiting for this day to come, and his blood still boils with rage whenever he recalls his battle with you. You raised your party’s level by wiping the floor with his subordinates, not to mention you also gathered equipments that have the special effects he hates. Thanks to that, he got slaughtered in an instant… and now even the mid-boss monsters are taking him lightly. Poor thing LOL. After saying this, he goes to weep in the corner for a while—lamenting over the sorrow and the bitter defeat. He quickly goes back to you though, explaining that taking revenge on you has been the only goal in his life ever since. In order to reach that goal, he endured the shame and concealed himself as he visited the lake 100 times.

…sounds familiar, isn’t it? Y⌒Y⌒Y⌒Y⌒Y⌒Y⌒(。A。)アヒャヒャヒャヒャ!!

As Slime and Villager listen with pity in their eyes, Maou reveals what happened at the lake 100 days ago. He was standing by the edge of the lake, thinking of a strategy to defeat you next time. He was gritting his teeth in frustration—recalling the moment you humiliated him—when suddenly his pride rolled out of his pocket and fell into the lake. Villager wonders if one’s pride can literally fall off like that, but Slime has no idea either LOL. In any case, the god popped out of the lake and got really surprised to see Evil Lord. Upon learning about the god’s identity, Evil Lord forced the god to grant his wish… and the god agreed because he feels sorry for the poor thing. 。゚(゚ノ∀`゚)゚。アヒャヒャ From there, the god asked exactly the same question he gave to Villager and Slime—asking Evil Lord to choose between the golden, silver, and wooden bug.

Evil Lord had no idea about what the god was talking about, but he chose the golden one—just because he thought gold suits him the most. While Evil Lord wanted to see you as quickly as possible, the god told him to be patient and come to the lake 100 times—promising to grant his wish in return. Evil Lord instantly agreed and asked the god to keep that promise no matter what, then he started visiting the lake everyday. Today marks the 100th day, and he thanks the god IN ENGLISH for granting his wish. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ Slime can only laugh in the background, while Villager mutters that he feels sorry for Evil Lord. That, and he also finds Evil Lord’s parting remark towards the god really unfortunate—pretty much like a sad kid asking his friends not to break their promise LOL.

Now that you’re here, Evil Lord challenges you for a battle. If he wins, he’s going to do whatever he wants with your body. You pervert. ✿*,(*´◕ω◕`*)+✿.* Slime protests out of envy, but Evil Lord simply tells him to shut up. Then he turns back to you and says that if you’re not going to make the first move, he will.

Golden Ball

…or maybe not.

Before Evil Lord could do anything, countless pots suddenly fly to smack him in the face—reducing his HP with each hit. As Evil Lord weeps and curses, a man in dark armor appears. Evil Lord refers to him as the “traitor”, and he sighs saying he sensed foul presence. It probably came from Slime as well, but he didn’t expect to find Evil Lord here. On his way to approach you, he tells Slime to move out of his way and kicks Slime away. Σ(-`Д´-ノ;)ノ!? When Slime protests and asks what he did that for, he snaps at Slime to shut up. He thinks Slime is being cheeky by transforming into a human form, even though Slime is only a small fry. Upon hearing this, Slime pouts saying he really hates the man—Dark Knight. In return, Dark Knight replies that he doesn’t want to be liked by weak monsters either.

Dark Knight then walks up to you and asks you not to worry, for he has defeated the monster for you. He’s really surprised to see you being so honest though, and he asks if you’re finally going to acknowledge his power. Or could it be that you… don’t remember him? You used to fight him as an enemy in the past, until he eventually vowed to fight alongside you. Unfortunately for Dark Knight, you don’t remember him at all. He was left forgotten in the carriage during the latter half of your journey, and now he can see that you’re still treating him the same way. He takes another attempt to remind you that he used to be on Evil Lord’s side, but then he switched sides and joined your party. He asks if you remember him now, but sadly… this doesn’t ring any bells for you LOL.

Dark Knight finds this unbelievable. Especially because he has spent 100 days praying at the lake, asking the god to grant him another journey with you. 100 days ago, he was passing by the lake when a “round gem” fell out of his precious pouch—dropping into the lake. The next moment, the god popped out of the water to ask about what he just dropped. Was it a golden ba—

Villager: “WAIT A SECOND!! Why are you the only one who didn’t get bugs as the options!?”
Dark Knight: “No, I really did drop a ball. I thought of taking the chance to get the golden ba—”
Slime: “NO~! That’s not allowed! Boo-boo!”

Just in case you’re wondering, a word play on “golden ball” can also mean THOSE balls LOL.

When Villager asks if the god also told Dark Knight to pray for 100 days, Dark Knight nods saying that’s true. The god promised to let him see you again in return, and today marks the 100th day. Evil Lord feels terribly insulted to share the same wish with a traitor, though Villager believes the god must’ve granted it exactly because they were all wishing for the same thing.

Just then you get a random vision, as the god talks directly to you. He points out that just as you might have realized, you’re currently inside Unlimited Quest—the game you used to play. When you comment that the god’s way of speaking is rather casual, he says it’s because he needs some dignity whenever he appears in-game. Or else the users wouldn’t believe that he’s the god LOL. That, and he also needs to let the characters know that they can’t go against him. He quickly drops the subject though, since this kind of information is supposed to go behind the screen. ヽ(*´ー`*)ノ All you have to know is that a certain bug has absorbed you into the game, and it’s so troublesome that the developers failed to debug it.

Unfortunately for you, the god doesn’t know how to get you back to your world. What he knows is that you’ve cleared the game once and never finished the second run, and the characters have been wishing to see you again—albeit for different reasons. In any case, the god will leave the rest in your hands. He’s not entirely sure either, but you might be able to return if you play the game one more time. On your first run, you skipped ALL of the sub-quests, only leveled up your first party, and then cleared the game in one go. That’s why the god wants you to enjoy the game a bit more, interacting with each character properly and—if possible—loving them as well. After wishing you luck, the god vanishes along with the vision.

Since you were spacing out while talking to the god, Evil Lord is busy calling out to you. He quickly gets shoved away by Slime though, who proceeds to get your attention back with a better method—hugging and clinging to you. ✿*,(*´◕ω◕`*)+✿.* Villager points out that you look shocked by Slime’s sudden attack though, while Evil Lord warns Slime not to touch his prey. Slime is a monster after all, and that technically makes him Evil Lord’s slave. Ignoring this interaction, Dark Knight takes the chance to take you with him. You didn’t take his sub-quests on your first run, so now he wants to travel around the world to clear those quests.

Upon hearing this, Villager asks you to take him along. Slime happily decides to join in as well, since he’s always wanted to form a party with you—even if it’s just for once. Dark Knight doesn’t think adding small fries like them would help, but he allows them to tag along. Evil Lord immediately objects since everyone’s pretty much doing whatever they want, but then he decides to join in anyway. He claims that it’s because he’s worried about them, and he especially can’t trust a traitor like Dark Knight. Feeling terribly offended, Dark Knight challenges Evil Lord for a battle on the spot—believing that his dark arts is powerful enough to damage the latter. In return, Evil Lord reminds Dark Knight that he can transform up to 3 phases… even though he couldn’t show it in the final battle thanks to you. He’s the last boss after all, and he’s different from a weakling who sat in the carriage all the time. (((壊゚∀゚)))ァヒャヒャヒャヒャヒャヒャ

Villager soon stops them from fighting though, asking them to save the battle for later. Slime nods saying they all spent 100 days praying for the same thing, so they should be nice to each other and set off on a journey together. Being led by Villager and Slime gives Dark Knight a really strange feeling, while Evil Lord is afraid that his dignity would drop even more if he listens to Slime’s opinion LOL. Slime asks them not to be so rigid though, as he wants them to be more slippery flexible. (。・ω・。)♪ He happily tells you that he’ll always be with you from now on, then he glues himself to you again.

Equipment Check

Meanwhile, Evil Lord and Dark Knight are discussing about how terrible your equipments are. Your outfit shows a lot of skin, especially around your legs—leaving them open and defenseless. Villager turns red as he points out that Slime’s mucus is sticking all over your outfit, making them wet and transparent in a lot of places. How naughty. (*ノ∀ノ)イヤン Slime giggles saying your clothes will completely melt away soon, then your body and mind can also melt inside of him. Σ(゚ー゚;) Much to his disappointment, you shake him off and flee right after hearing this.

However, Evil Lord notices that you’re having a hard time dealing with Slime… which sadly means you’re just that weak. He can’t believe that a weak little girl like you could torture him that much during the final battle, though Dark Knight points out that you didn’t torture him. You killed him in an instant LOL. In fact, he didn’t even get a chance to say his lines properly. From the carriage, Dark Knight saw how you mashed your controller’s button and entirely skipped Evil Lord’s introductory lines. Not to mention the battle itself ended in an overkill. 。゚(゚ノ∀`゚)゚。アヒャヒャ Evil Lord grits his teeth upon hearing this, muttering about how his stomach would hurt whenever he recalls that moment LOL.

That aside, Evil Lord points out that Dark Knight betrayed him to join your party… and yet you never took him out of the carriage. Dark Knight quickly asks Evil Lord not to say that, because he’s been traumatized by the memory of that small, narrow carriage. Or rather, by the fact that a weak little girl like you branded him as useless LOL. Needless to say, both Evil Lord and Dark Knight are not satisfied with how you treated them. Slime asks them not to pick on you though, while Villager says he can sympathize with your normal aura somehow—which makes you happy. Dark Knight isn’t pleased to see the weaklings grouping up like that, but Evil Lord notices something more important.

While your outfit is about as thin as a dancer’s, Evil Lord thinks it might be a legendary equipment with a dreadful power hidden inside. Dark Knight finds this 100% possible since they have never seen clothes like that before, so both of them decide to perform an equipment check on you. Oh, and by “checking” I mean groping you all over the place. ✿*,(*´◕ω◕`*)+✿.* From what they can see, your clothes provide very small coverage and are made of cloth instead of leather. Slime’s mucus was enough to tear them apart, so Evil Lord’s flame and thunder spells would definitely rip them into pieces. That, and your voice is so feeble and sad. Dark Knight doesn’t think you can lead a party properly with with that voice, but since Brave and the others clearly followed your commands… Evil Lord wonders if your voice can charm others.

From there, their guesses escalate even more. They start asking if you have a third eye; a mouth with sharp fangs on the back of your neck; an extra pair of arms on your waist; or basically any skill that’s powerful enough to convince them. In the background, Villager quietly comments that they’re groping you as they like… while Slime happily goes over to join them LOL. Dark Knight can’t believe that you have absolutely no muscles on your arms and legs, but Evil Lord admits that he actually doesn’t hate how soft you are. He wonders if it’s a trap though, and if you’re planning to crush him once he falls for it. Dark Knight has to admit that you’re indeed comfortable to touch though, and Evil Lord nods saying the sensation paralyzes his mind. (。-∀-)ニヒ♪

…and so the equipment check has gone off to the dirty zone.

Realizing that your face has turned red, Dark Knight asks if you’re charging up. Evil Lord takes this further by asking if the requirement to release the attack is to grope you, and so they keep touching you left and right while asking you to let go… which sounds really wrong LOL. As slime watches them in envy, Villager notes that you’re now exposing a lot of things thanks to the harassment. It’s been a while since he felt this way, but somehow he’s getting excited. (⊙ω⊙✿) At times like this, he feels really lucky that he has a rather thin presence—because he can see things for free. Beside him, Slime laughs and calls him a pervert.

The sexual harassment equipment check eventually ends when you slaps Evil Lord and Dark Knight away. Evil Lord protests saying it’s unfair to attack him without an encounter signal, but Dark Knight points out that your attack is really weak. He should be able to pin you down with one hand, and despite Evil Lord’s protests, you didn’t do much damage to his HP either. This finally leads them to realize that you’re only a normal girl, though Villager thinks it’s pretty obvious—because you look 100% normal LOL. However, this won’t change the fact that you’re the person who controlled Brave and the others.

That being said, Evil Lord doesn’t think you’re worth all that trouble he went through just to summon you to this world. Dark Knight feels the same way, though it’s mostly because he wouldn’t be able to reach his ultimate goal at this rate. Noticing that you’re confused, Villager tells you that Evil Lord and Dark Knight seem to have their own reasons. As for Villager himself, being with you is already enough to satisfy him… and the same goes for Slime. In Slime’s case, all he has to do is to become one with you. He clings to you again right after saying this, but Dark Knight quickly pulls him away. Both Evil Lord and him won’t allow that to happen, because their reunion with you only marks the beginning for them.

As Villager said, they all wanted to see you again for different reasons. Otherwise, you would probably be reunited with Brave and his group instead—because they were your main party. In contrary, all the people in this group came from the enemy’s side. Well, except for Villager since he claims to be is simply a normal villager. Dark Knight asks you to take a look at their stats to get a better understanding, though for some reason doing it outside makes Slime all embarrassed and excited. Σ(-∀-;) Villager knows this party would stand out a LOT though, so he invites everyone to come to his house first.

Dark Knight agrees. People would only panic upon seeing them anyway, and that’d cause more problems for them. Evil Lord doesn’t want to be seen by other monsters either, because they’ll only spread ill rumors about how he’s playing around with this group… which means he’s 100% aware that he’s fooling around LOL. More than anything else, they wouldn’t want Brave’s party to find them here. It’d be troublesome to have the final battle in a plain outside the village, not to mention Evil Lord isn’t ready to take them on yet. He panics and covers it up when Slime asks if he said something, leaving Villager to wonder if this man is really the dreadful evil lord. (((壊゚∀゚)))ァヒャヒャヒャヒャヒャヒャ Dark Knight quickly stops them from fooling around though, and so the party makes their way to Villager’s house.

Villager’s House

Upon entering Villager’s house, the first thing Evil Lord does is to complain about how small it is. Slime is happy since it means he can stick to you, but Dark Knight immediately pulls him away LOL. Evil Lord tells them not to struggle so much though, since they’re sending the dust to fly all over the place. Dark Knight agrees that Villager’s house is indeed small, but Slime remembers that your room is about the same size. It was a bit messier though LOL. You get angry and kick him away, but he laughs saying you don’t have the power to hurt him. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ Once again, Evil Lord warns you not to move around so much. He thinks the house isn’t good for anyone’s health, not to mention his outfit is getting dirty and someone is stepping on his cloak. In the corner, Villager sighs saying everyone is complaining too much. It’s only a temporary residence for him, so he doesn’t have any options.

Back to the issue at hand, Dark Knight asks you to start checking their stats. You decide to start with Evil Lord, who gets embarrassed when you examine his data. His equipments haven’t changed since the final battle, and one of his skills are greyed out. When you ask about these skills, he replies that it’s his ultimate skill—the one that allows him to change phases. His power will be unleashed completely in the 3rd phase, though sadly you killed him before he could transform to his full form. Brave and his party defeated him in an instant, and the skill has been sealed ever since LOL. When you say that the skill looks strong, Evil Lord happily answers that he’s the leader of all evil after all. He only got careless back then, and he swears that he’ll definitely win next time. ヽ(*´ー`*)ノ

Next up is Dark Knight. His equipments are the strongest and the most beautiful among all of Evil Lord’s subordinates, so he’s really proud of them. Aside from the glossy jet black color, they are also flexible and elegant. Among his impressive equipments, he’s especially fond of his weapon—dual-wielding. Villager points out that dual-wielding is supposed to be a skill and not a weapon, but Dark Knight totally ignores him LOL. You’ve fought against him before as an enemy, so he asks if you remember how he handled his twin swords in battle. He cheers with joy when you answer that he gave you quite a hard time, because he really did have that much power and skill selection.

The problem is that after the battle against Dark Knight, he was supposed to betray Evil Lord. If you spend a night at the inn, a movie would play to mark the start of this event. After seeing this, people would go to a certain ruins and he’d join the party there. However, you didn’t even return to the inn. Instead, you went to raise your party’s level by massacring weak monsters. By the time you see the movie, most of your party members’ stats were nearly maxed out. In contrary, Dark Knight’s level is lowered when he joins in… and it made him much weaker than your main party. It’s ironic because Dark Knight was pretty strong when he was still working for Evil Lord.

In the end, you never used Dark Knight and kept him in the carriage all the time. He spent his days eating your supply of red bean buns, and the rest of your party members gave him pathetic nicknames: “アンコ食う騎士 / anko kuu kishi / bean-eating knight” and “アンコ空気士 / anko kuukishi / ignored bean knight”. Both are word plays on “暗黒騎士 / ankoku kishi / Dark Knight”. He lets out a dry, sad laugh upon recalling all of this, so much that Slime feels sorry for him LOL. Evil Lord totally laughs at him though, and Dark Knight dramatically admits that his fate was indeed ridiculous. He has a main sub-quest to save his little sister’s soul, but you never did it… and he stayed in the carriage until the game ended. 。゚(゚ノ∀`゚)゚。アヒャヒャ He gets really offended when Slime starts laughing at him though, and Villager has to stop them from fighting.

It’s supposed to be Villager’s turn next, but there’s not much to see because he’s just a normal villager—a mob NPC. When you tell him that he gives off a clean and fresh feeling, he smiles saying that makes him happy. His plain clothes are actually new, and he even washed them by hand. (人´∀`)☆゜’・:* …though Evil Lord can’t tell the difference. Villager doesn’t have any combat skills nor magic, but he can blend into the surroundings in every town. His charm is that he doesn’t have any notable characteristics. Slime isn’t sure if that’s something to be proud about, but the same goes for Slime himself.

Evil Lord has never seen a slime in human form before, so he wonders if Slime is a mutant. Slime explains that it was a special bug he received from the god, and he’s definitely happy to receive a human form. It allows him to talk to you, hug you, and do all sorts of questionable things to you. ✿*,(*´◕ω◕`*)+✿.* As Slime sticks to you again, Villager watches with great interest and mutters that he’s a bit envious LOL. On the other hand, Dark Knight wonders if single-celled creatures can only think about merging with others. He warns Slime to control himself though, and Evil Lord also tells Slime to leave you for later. They can do whatever they want with you anytime, so for now they should focus on their objective instead.

While Slime and Villager only want to be with you, Dark Knight and Evil Lord clearly have bigger goals to accomplish. Both their feelings and stats came to a halt when you cleared the game for the first time, and different from the main party… the advantages of the second run don’t apply to them. They have to finish everything that was left undone, and they need you for that. That’s probably why the god used the golden bug to bring you into the game. In order to do that, now you have to clear a quest with them.

Individual Quests:
Evil LordSlimeDark KnightVillager

Once you’ve decided on a quest, the party departs immediately. Dark Knight warns Slime and Villager not to drag them down, but Villager says that’s asking too much—he’s just a villager after all. Evil Lord thinks his reputation will drop even more by traveling with these people, but Slime only tells him not to worry so much over the details LOL.

Evil Lord’s Castle Tour

After the quest, Evil Lord takes the party to spend the night in his castle. They’re all too tired and hungry to do anything, so he decides to hold a banquet for everyone. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ Both Villager and you never thought that Evil Lord would offer such warm hospitality, but Evil Lord claims that he’s not doing this for anyone. It’s a banquet for himself, so everyone can worship him. ヽ(*´ー`*)ノ Dark Knight would rather kick him instead, but apparently that doesn’t bother him—he still orders his servants to prepare the banquet. Evil Lord is going to prepare some rooms as well, so everyone can get some rest until then. Not only that, but the rooms he’s giving them are VIP rooms with separate bathrooms and toilets. Dark Knight and Slime are happy to receive this special treatment, but Villager still can’t believe that Evil Lord is really the person who’s planning to conquer the world LOL.

Later on, Evil Lord finds you at a rather questionable part of his castle. He can sense his guests’ presence, and he also knows that you’re thinking about how to return to your world. Your feelings are written all over your face, so he tells you that you won’t survive in the harsh world like that. Evil Lord is so nice LOL. That aside, Evil Lord reveals that he just went to the lake. He wanted to see if clearing the quest brought any change, but sadly nothing happened. When you reply that it means you can stay with him for a bit longer, he turns red and asks what you’re talking about—reminding you that you and him are supposed to be enemies. He wouldn’t mind if you want to stay though. (*´艸`*)ァハ♪

However, Evil Lord has a strange premonition. Maybe you might be able to go back to your world soon, though he won’t let you get away until he can settle things with Brave’s party. Until that day comes, Evil Lord asks you not to let your guard down. Or rather, he wants you to be cheerful and keeps things fun for him. He actually came just to say that, and he nervously takes you to go back to the throne room for the banquet. He tells you to follow him before fleeing in embarrassment, telling you not to laugh at him from afar. ✿*,(*´◕ω◕`*)+✿.*

Upon returning to the throne room, Evil Lord happily tests out his broadcasting set and greets everyone with his evil laughter. His personal chef has prepared a lot of food tonight. Most of them came from your world, and they all look really colorful. Evil Lord has a “wonderful” naming sense, but the others translate it into normal food names for you:

  • Panicking Chicken, Roasted in Hellfire
Roasted Chicken with Bell Pepper Sauce

  • Mysterious Fish’s Hell Tour
    Roasted Salted Carp

  • Witch’s Blood
    Red Wine

  • Scream of Fruits
    100% Fruit Juice

  • Clergy Who Drowns in a Sea of Milk
    Shiratama Milk Shaved Ice

  • Splattered Strawberries
    Strawberry Millefeuille

The sound of grumbling stomach starts filling the throne room, and Evil Lord allows everyone to eat up.

As you may expect, it doesn’t take long until everyone gets drunk. Dark Knight and Villager are drinking together, bonding over the fact that hangover isn’t really a problem for them—no one would remember them anyway! ゚.+:。ヾ(o・ω・)ノ゚.+:。 Villager can just stand in the town plaza all day, while the carriage is always open for Dark Knight. As they start singing to forget the frustration, Evil Lord is talking about the food ingredients he used tonight. Apparently he gathered ingredients from all over the world—going all the way to snowy Northern mountains and Southern Amazon—and even bought then directly from the manufacturer. He always spends his days paying extra attention to food, making sure he’s always on his best condition while waiting for Brave’s party to come… and yet you killed him in an instant LOL.

Meanwhile, Slime is sticking to you as usual. He’s actually planning to take over your body, but you shove him away before he could find any openings. Slime asks you not to resist that much though, because this might be your last night with them. When you admit that the thought makes you said, he says he’s happy that you feel the same way. He asks you not to worry though, since he can always make a wish to see you again. No matter what the result is going to be, Slime is glad to have met you. He feels grateful to the god, and he enjoyed his journey with you as well. That’s why Slime wants to glue himself onto you even more. Literally! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ You keep resisting though, so he eventually gives up and moves away.

Immediately after, a drunk Dark Knight comes over to check if Slime is still bothering you. He doesn’t look pleased when you defend Slime instead, but Slime laughs and asks you not to worry. Dark Knight might get angry and threaten to slash him whenever he clings to you, but he knows that Dark Knight is actually a very kind person inside. Dark Knight gets flustered and tries to protect his shady mysterious image, but then remembers that he joined Brave’s party after awakening to justice. You nod saying he’s a valuable friend for you, and he happily answers that he’ll always be your companion—he’s going to help you train. He’s glad that you finally understand him, and he’s looking forward to work with you from now on.

Right after saying this, Dark Knight falls asleep on the floor. Slime is getting sleepy as well, so he takes his leave while a maid informs you that Evil Lord has fallen asleep as well. Apparently he got exhausted after crying in frustration LOL. You decide to get some rest too, with the maid guiding you back to your room. Along the way, the maid points out that you look a bit sad. She asks if parting with everyone is painful for you, though she’s pretty sure that they all feel the same way. The maid has never seen Evil Lord having so much fun after he was defeated by Brave, and it’s also her first time seeing Dark Knight getting completely drunk. While she doesn’t know anything about Villager, she does know that Slime has never made such a serious expression before.

In return, you also share your opinion regarding your party members. You find Evil Lord surprisingly kind, Dark Knight very reliable, and Slime surprisingly makes a nice match for Villager. Due to the nature of her job, the maid is naturally observant. She can see that everyone really loves you, and they don’t want to be apart from you either. That’s why when the time comes, the maid asks you to say goodbye properly—so that no one would have any regrets. Before leaving, the maid also informs you that they have a hot spring in the basement. Apparently Evil Lord found it when he was digging the extra dungeon LOL.

What you don’t know is that the maid is actually the god, who disguised himself for the sake of giving you an advice. That’s about the only thing he can do though. The rest will depend on your decision, and he’s looking forward to see what’s going to happen tomorrow.

Before bed, you decide to drop by the hot spring—where you run into a naked Villager inside. He instantly panics and tries to leave in a panic, but then realizes that he came in first… so he decides to stay and stare at you. ✿*,(*´◕ω◕`*)+✿.* When you angrily hurl your wooden tub at him, he immediately apologizes and promises not to look LOL. He’s simply taking a bath to sober up after all those drinks. Besides, the thought that he might have to part with you again made it difficult for him to sleep. When you admit that it makes you sad as well, he blushes and gets really happy… though he soon realizes that you were referring to the entire party and not just him. However, he asks you not to push yourself too hard. Even though he wants to be with you forever, he doesn’t want you to feel sad because of that. After all, he really loves your smile.

Villager gets embarrassed for saying all these things in the hot springs, so he quickly says good night and quickly takes his leave—slipping and falling down on his way out LOL.

The next morning, everyone wakes up to the cry of a creepy chicken monster. According to Slime, it’s has eaten a lot of his slime friends. 。゚(゚ノ∀`゚)゚。アヒャヒャ None of them could sleep properly despite the gorgeous beds Evil Lord prepared for them, and the same goes for you. Once everyone gathers at the throne room, Evil Lord starts a discussion about what they’re going to do from now on. After a long, heavy silence, they decide to part ways here. Each of them has a different objective, and so they decide to disband the party.

This makes Slime really sad, but Villager asks everyone to mark their departure with a smile—especially because he thinks a smile suits you the best. Slime thinks Evil Lord looks super scary when he smiles, to which Evil Lord protests that it’s because he’s not used to smiling. (o ゝω・)b ヵヮィィ♪ However, just when everyone’s about to depart… a strange light suddenly appears to envelop your body.

Back to the Beginning…?

As you slowly float into the air, they all realize that the time has come for you to go home. Dark Knight asks if you’re okay, but sadly you’re just as confused as they are. Evil Lord notes that the element of the light is very different than normal magic, which means it’s probably the god’s doing. Since the light was created by the god, its element might naturally be holy… and so dark elemental attacks might be able to stop it. Dark Knight tries attacking with his dark waves, Evil Lord starts unleashing all of his magic spells, while Slime is given the task of retrieving you from the light. Oh, and Villager? He’s just watching from the side. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

Unfortunately, the light is repelling Slime away from you. Dark Knight and Evil Lord’s attacks barely inflict any damage either, and they start wondering if they can’t win against the god after all. They’re about to descend into despair when the BGM suddenly changes, and they watch in shock as Villager’s appearance changes. He says you’re going to stay with him in this world, and he won’t allow the god to drag you back to your world. When Evil Lord asks about the power he just released, Villager answers that he’s a unique existence in this world—he’s the last boss. He surpasses even the god himself.

Evil Lord: “Eh… EHHH—!!” Σ(p´;Д;`)q

I’m sorry that your position got snatched away. 。゚・(。ノД`)ヾ(-ω-*)ヨチヨチ

In any case, the god’s power is nothing for Villager. After telling the light to disappear, he casts a magic circle that easily absorbs the light—which makes Evil Lord even sadder LOL. Slime manages to catch you just before you hit the ground, and feeling relieved, Villager reverts back to his original self.

After that, everyone reforms the party and departs on a new journey with you. Evil Lord doesn’t get why they’re doing this again, but Slime says it’s obviously because it’s fun. Dark Knight has a different reason though. By now he’s completely terrified of Villager, calling the latter “Last Boss-sama” and obeying every single one of his wishes. Including forming a party with you LOL. Dark Knight never thought that a normal villager like him would turn out to be the Last Boss, but Slime doesn’t care as much. For him, he just wants the five of them to get along and stick together. Literally. He gets knocked away by Dark Knight for saying this though.

That aside, Dark Knight doesn’t think you’ll be able to go home as long as Villager is around. He quickly shuts his mouth when Villager asks if he said something, and Evil Lord sighs saying they have no choice but to go along with it. Since Villager has the power to create absolutely anything, he then asks about what kind of quest he should make next. Slime is about to suggest an idea, but Villager reminds him that he had his turn yesterday. He wants to hear your opinion today, though he also makes it clear that asking to be returned to your world is out of the question. ✿*,(*´◕ω◕`*)+✿.* He won’t listen even if you give him a sad look, which Evil Lord finds really mean LOL.

As long as you’re staying with Villager in this world, you’ll be able to live a peaceful and happy life. He lets out a suspicious laugh after saying this, sending Evil Lord to shiver in the background. Since no one dares to give him a suggestion, Villager eventually decides to take everyone on a dragon hunt today—though Slime is the only one who’s excited to be in this party. ヽ(*´ー`*)ノ

Unlike the previous installments, this party is really… different LOL. The only character who came from your original party is Dark Knight, so they don’t have as much teamwork as the other groups. It doesn’t help either that half of the party is made up of a weak monster and a villager with zero combat abilities. ゚.+:。ヾ(o・ω・)ノ゚.+:。 Surprisingly though, they do work well together when they really have to. The system and ending requirements are exactly the same as the previous games, so you can read my opinion here. If you liked the first two games, then I’d recommend playing this one too—it gives you an entirely different perspective.

Also, if you jumped straight to this section to avoid spoilers: don’t do the normal ending before you finish the individual routes! It contains major spoilers about Villager, so at the very least make sure you clear his route first. (*´・ω・`)b デスゥ♪

  1. Don’t know why but I’ve been … avoiding? this series. but your summary just made me love it XD Thanks for that! They have some really nice seiyuus in it too!

    • You’re welcome, hope you enjoyed it. 8D
Dot Kare is short and exactly a deep series, but still enjoyable if you like classic RPGs and / or the cast. As you said, they have a nice seiyuu list so hopefully that makes up for the short routes.

  2. Hey, it’s him the villager from the other game! ((((;゜Д゜)))

But I am looking forward to reading this. Looks good with the ‘villains’. 8D

  3. The last of the dot kareshi game series… The games were all immensely fun and interesting,no doubt about that! I’m really grateful that you posted detailed summaries reviews of all the routes in the games. Totally awesome! The third installment is great, too! While the characters are not as united as before, since they’re not an official party, their interactions were as amusing as the previous games! For me, my preference is all the endings where the heroine stays in the game world. Keep on living the RPG life, yes–! Sorry for the text wall, lol!
