*footsteps coming*

Enishi: “Ahh~ Finally, we’ve reached the shrine grounds! It’s spacious here and there’s no one around at this hour. Perfect for swordsmanship training, isn’t it? Right, Princess!? …Huh?”

*more footsteps in the distance*

Saneaki: “By the way, why are you suddenly wishing to learn swordsmanship? You’re already spending your days doing naginata training so earnestly, I believe that should be enough art of self-defense for a woman… If you don’t mind, I would like to hear more from you before we begin training. Is it alright?”

[00:48]

Saneaki: “…I see. Well then, let’s sit down at the stone steps over there…”

*footsteps walking away*

Enishi: “…W-Wait. Hey, hey! That Saneaki… He wasn’t interested at all in this training session, so I did find it weird that he suddenly wanted to come along. Is he still trying to complain about this? *sigh* And Princess has gotten all worked up too. Good grief!”

*footsteps fading into the distance*

[01:26]

Saneaki: “I see. So you developed an interest in swordsmanship after watching the way we wield our swords. We did cross swords several times in front of you during the wedding parade, didn’t we? …! No, putting Enishi-dono aside, I’m not… To begin with, I am not in a position that would warrant admiration from you. I don’t think it would be acceptable to bestow my swordsmanship to you.”

Saneaki: “I’m not thinking badly of your ambition. However, if it’s alright… would you mind telling me? Even if you managed to learn swordsmanship, what are you planning to do with it? Swordsmanship is an art of killing. One mistake might even cause you to harm unforeseen parties. When that happens, the one whose heart will break the most… is you. All in all, I feel reluctant to teach you.”

[02:33]

*footsteps approaching*

Enishi: “So you are still talking about that. Hey, Saneaki! Just give up already. Princess is wishing for a chance to wield a sword after all.”

Saneaki: “But…”

Enishi: “You know, if you’re feeling reluctant, you don’t have to force yourself to keep us company. Just leave it to me, and I’ll teach her everything she needs to know. Right, Princess? This is a good chance. There’s a lot I want to talk about with you, Princess, just the two of us. Saneaki doesn’t have to be here, right~?”

Saneaki: “Wha—!? …Enishi-dono, is that… your real objective?”

Enishi: “Hm? What is?”

Saneaki: “You are not just using swordsmanship training as an excuse to gain her favor, aren’t you?”

Enishi: “That’s so mean~ The reason why I undertook the role of an instructor is because Princess’ ambition got me captivated. Princess said she wants to be able to protect those who are important to her in time of need. You’re not a man if you turn her down after hearing that, right?”

[03:34]

Saneaki: “I do think it’s a great ambition, but…”

Enishi: “Alright. That means you agree, right? Come on, Princess. Let’s start right away. It’ll get dark if we don’t make it quick.”

Saneaki: “Ah… Enishi-dono!”

Enishi: “The best way to improve is to keep training and allow your body to remember everything! Practice makes perfect! Here, I brought a bamboo sword for you too. First, we’ll start with how to hold it!”

*footsteps walking away*

Saneaki:*sigh* …Is it really for her ambition only? It certainly doesn’t look that way…”

[04:23]

Enishi: “When you’re wielding it with both hands, place the base of your thumb and index finger towards the center of the hilt… like this. Go on, give it a try. …Yeah. That’s right! Just as expected from Princess, you’re a fast learner. Ah, but if I can make an addition… when you’re using a bamboo sword, it’d be better to leave a little more space between both hands. It’s okay to keep them that close for a real sword, though. Hold on.”

Enishi: “Ah, stay like that and keep your gaze straight ahead, Princess. May I hold your hands from behind? Let’s see… like this, I guess. …Ah? Ahahaha, your body is all tense. Right now you’re putting too much power into it. You see, swords are difficult. You can’t strain yourself, but on the other hand, not enough power obviously means you won’t be able to strike. So come on, relax your shoulders. Don’t use force more than necessary.”

[05:27]

Enishi: “…Hm? What do you mean you’re nervous because of me? Ah, could it be that… you’re thinking of me in that kind of way? You’re just as cute as always, Princess. It makes me want to take you away~ Aha, ahaha! Just kidding! Today I have to fulfill your request by training you properly, right?”

Enishi: “Alright! Are your shoulders relaxed now? Well then… try attacking me, I’ll be your opponent.”

[06:07]

Enishi: “What’s wrong? For this sort of stuff, nothing’s better than to learn through experience! Now, try attacking me however you want. Think of knocking me out with one hit. Come on, give me all you’ve got!”

*swish*

*whack*

Enishi: “Ooh! Not bad for a first try! Just as expected from someone who’s well-trained in the arts of naginata. But the impact is still weak. You went easy on me, didn’t you? Come on, once more!”

*whack*

Enishi: “Right, right. Nice. Not bad! But if I’m allowed to give suggestions, it might be better to keep your upper arms a bit closer to your body. That way you’ll be able to hit harder, and it’ll be easier to aim too. Also, you’re still thinking of this as a training session as you strike, aren’t you? If this is an actual match that uses real swords, you’ll get torn apart if you take your guard down—even if it’s just for an instant.”

[07:01]

Enishi: “Yah!”

*swish*

Enishi: “…Just like that, see? If I swung my sword down for real, it would’ve been dangerous, wouldn’t it? For example, if I were making an attempt on your life, I wouldn’t stop midway. …Well, this is a training session so your life isn’t under any real threat. But if we’re going to do it, do know that I’m stern teacher.”

Enishi: “Now, wield your sword one more time. Hit me with all your strength, alright?”

[07:31]

*whack*

Enishi: “Ugh! …That’s right! Just like that! Keep it up and strike away!”

*thud*

Enishi: “…!”

*whack*

Enishi: “Guh! …Nice. You don’t look like someone who just held a bamboo sword for the first time today. I only taught you the trick for a bit, and you manage to get this far… Just as expected from Princess. Besides, you look so gallant when you wield a bamboo sword in your hands. We’re in the middle of training, and yet I almost find myself feeling captivated by you. …Well, that’s not only limited to this situation alone, though.”

[08:05]

Enishi: “Nah, it’s nothing. I was just impressed by how fast you learn. …Eh? Did I really look that cool? Aha, no way~ Don’t give me such honest praises~ You’re making me blush. Well… but if you say that you’ve fallen in love with me all over again, I’d gladly accept it.”

Enishi: “Huh…? You could’ve nodded at that, though… Haha… Hey, come on! Don’t look so distressed! I was just teasing you for a bit.”

[08:40]

Enishi: “Hmm… You looked so gallant until just a moment ago, but now your bashful and adorable expression has returned. Really, I never get tired of watching you, Princess. No other princesses have your loveliness. Hehe, your cheeks are turning red. Shall we take a short break? You don’t have to hold back. I’ll keep you company as much as you want.”

*footsteps coming*

Saneaki: “Enishi-dono. It seems like the training has come to a stop, did something happen?”

Enishi: “Ah, Saneaki… Damn it, we were in such a nice mood…”

[09:23]

Saneaki: “Also, it seemed like she was practicing her attacks so intensely immediately after the training begun… but wouldn’t it be better to not push her too hard? You, too, should avoid overstraining yourself. …Is that so? Well, then it’s fine…”

Enishi: “Obviously. There’s no way I’d force Princess beyond her limits. After all, I am keeping an eye on her condition as I set her on the offense.”

Saneaki: “Regarding that… I have a suggestion.”

Enishi: “Huh? …What?”

Saneaki: “If she’s wishing to learn swordsmanship to protect others, shouldn’t she learn how to block and parry instead of offense?”

Enishi: “That’s… well, I guess so…”

[10:08]

Saneaki: “Besides, I believe that even when you are taking a rogue as your opponent, it doesn’t mean you can just kill them without thinking. If you can catch them off-guard and avoid battle, then it would be the most ideal option. If you’re alright with me, I will teach you how to parry the opponent’s attack.”

Enishi: “What the heck! So you end up joining us anyway!”

Saneaki: “I felt her unyielding spirit from the way she attacked earlier. I am simply answering that determination.”

[10:35]

Saneaki: “Enishi-dono, would you mind playing the role of the opponent?”

Enishi: “Me? Yeah, I don’t mind…”

Saneaki: “In that case, first let us take the time to examine the flow of combat. Keep your eyes straight on Enishi-dono in front of you, and take your stance. …Yes, stay like that. Now I’m going to roughly explain the movement. Make sure you are not turning your face this way. Stay like that, and keep your gaze straight ahead.”

[11:05]

Saneaki: “Enishi-dono, please try attacking.”

Enishi: “Slowly, right? Well then, like… this.”

Saneaki: “Enishi-dono is making a frontal attack. If you stay in that stance, you will only get outpushed. In such case, dodge diagonally as you block the hit. Please give me your arms. Hold it like this…”

Enishi: “Ah! Don’t lay your hands all over Princess like that!”

Saneaki: “I have no other choice, it’s to fix her stance.”

[11:39]

Saneaki: “Hit us with your bamboo sword in this state, Enishi-dono.”

Enishi: “Ughh~! Hmph!”

Saneaki: “Right. In this state, you make use of the opponent’s power and parry. …Yes, that’s good.”

Enishi: “But you see, isn’t there a possibility that the opponent might come up with a brand new trick after you dodge them~? Just like this…”

*whack*

Saneaki: “What—!?”

Enishi: “Ahaha. Princess looks surprised too~ If the opponent attacks from this distance, you’ll only end up getting pushed back by their strength, right?”

[12:11]

Saneaki: “Not again, Enishi-dono… Don’t worry. There is no need for you to panic. Excuse me, but I will be borrowing both of your arms. …Just like this, you only have to think about deflecting the opponent’s blade.”

Enishi: “You…! Don’t take advantage of the situation to hug Princess!”

Saneaki: “Wha—!? I am not hugging her!”

Enishi: “What are you talking about!? You’re totally wrapping your hands around her from behind!”

Saneaki: “You, too. That is not the proper distance to have a swordplay match! You are far too close!”

Enishi: “But we’re teaching her how to fight when the opponent is this close. Right, Princess? Please look over here. How are you going to dodge me? Even if you’re looking at me with suspicion in your eyes, I won’t go easy on you.”

Saneaki: “You are terrible…!”

[12:51]

Enishi: “Well, Princess, what are you gonna do? Try parrying either to the left or to the right. Or are you going to give up and let me win~?”

Saneaki: “To the right. Aim for the tip of the bamboo sword and ward it off as if you’re letting it slide away. At the same time, step back to the opposite side. Like this…!”

*sounds of bamboo swords scraping against each other*

*whack*

Enishi: “Hey, hey! That posture is dangerous!”

Saneaki: “You are fooling around too much! You don’t have enough self-awareness as her training partner!”

Enishi: “What do you mean self-awareness as her training partner!? In that case, why don’t you take the role of the opponent? I’ll stay by Princess’ side.”

Saneaki: “…Fine.”

Enishi: “Alright, Princess. I’ll be holding your arms. Don’t worry, I’ll teach you mu~ch better than Saneaki does. Saneaki is super frightening, so hold your bamboo sword properly.”

Saneaki: “Please don’t tell her unnecessary things. …Let’s go.”

[13:47]

Saneaki: “………”

Enishi: “Huh? What is it? Aren’t you going to attack?”

Saneaki: “No… Let’s just stop. Even if it’s only for training, I don’t want to point my sword at her.”

Enishi:*sigh* Not this again… Alright, I know! Let’s just end the training here. If Saneaki doesn’t feel like doing it, then we should stop too. *sigh* That was exhausting, wasn’t it? Princess~!”

Saneaki: “Wha—!? Let go of her, Enishi-dono!”

Enishi: “I’m just clinging to her because I’m tired. I’ll let her go once I feel better. Princess doesn’t mind either, right?”

[14:29]

Saneaki: “…!!”

Enishi: “Ouch! Ow ow ow!?”

Saneaki: “You are troubling her! …Are you alright? I’m sorry, please give me your arms. When this sort of fellow is attacking you, hold your sword like this. Pull back once…”

Enishi: “…Eh? Wait a second!”

Saneaki: “…Charge in and strike all at once!”

*whack*

Enishi: “Guh!?”

*thud*

Enishi: “Ugh… uhh…”

Saneaki: “Do you understand? You should remember this as an art of self-defense. Please be very careful towards fellows like Enishi-dono.”

Enishi: “…You…! That’s so childish of you to do that at times like this…!”

[15:14]

Enishi: “Ahh~ It’s gotten completely dark. How are you doing, Princess? You must be exhausted, right? …Really? If you have this much motivation, your swordsmanship will definitely improve in no time. Right, Saneaki?”

Saneaki: “Yes. You’re right.”

*crows crying in the distance*

Saneaki: “The sun has gone down, hasn’t it? This should be a good time to stop.”

Enishi: “Right. Let’s end it then. …Hey, Princess. Don’t look so disappointed. We can train again anytime you want.”

Saneaki: “You really are enthusiastic, aren’t you?”

[15:55]

Saneaki: “…Oh? What happened to your hand? Your grip looks unnatural.”

Enishi: “You’re right… Let me see for a bit. Ah, so you scraped your hand. You didn’t show any signs of this at all. Did you not feel the pain because you were so absorbed in training? Sorry. I should’ve noticed it sooner.”

Saneaki: “It’s bleeding a little. You should wash it away first.”

Enishi: “In that case, there should be a well behind the main shrine.”

Saneaki: “I see… Please stay here, Enishi-dono. I want you to keep an eye on our training equipments. I shall accompany her and help wash away the blood.”

Enishi: “Okay, come back quickly.”

Saneaki: “Yes. Well then, let’s treat your wound. Over here.”

*footsteps walking away*

[16:58]

*sounds of water being drawn from the well*

Saneaki: “Your hand, please. Let’s give it a light wash… I’m sorry, was it cold? There’s no need to force yourself to endure it. I’ll lend you my hand, it should help reducing the coldness a little. Your hand… is filled with heat. It was so reckless of you to hold a bamboo sword with these hands… For you to wield a sword with these fragile hands… As I thought, I cannot grow to like such an idea.”

Saneaki: “No, I’m not wishing to speak ill of you. After all, you were so engrossed up to the point of paying your scraped hand no mind. I can tell how much you enjoyed the training. However, please don’t push yourself too hard. From now on, whenever you train, please make sure that you don’t get injured like this. I don’t want to see you hurt.”

[18:06]

Saneaki: “Yes, be careful. Let’s wash it one more time. Turn your palm upwards.”

*sounds of water being poured*

Saneaki: “This should be good enough. It seems to be a light scratch, but let’s put a hand towel on it just to be safe. Wrap this around the wound. …Alright. No, there’s no need to thank me. Oh? Your hair is a little disheveled… I guess it’s only obvious after moving that much. Please stay still, it’s sticking to your forehead. …There you go.”

Saneaki: “It’s exactly like what Enishi-dono said. You really are different from when you were wielding a sword. You looked so determined earlier, but now your expression has changed into a peaceful one. You must have a lot of expressions… that I haven’t seen yet.”

[19:19]

Saneaki: “Today’s training session was a good opportunity for me.”

Saneaki: “Please don’t be surprised like that. I did express disapproval at the beginning, but… I believe I was granted a good opportunity by helping with your training today. Even so… I cannot help but wish for you to be unharmed. I want you to spend your days in peace, away from any conflicts… and smile in happiness. I’m truly wishing for that, with all my heart.”

[19:57]

Enishi: “…Hey, what are you doing, Saneaki!?”

Saneaki: “…Ah! Enishi-dono!”

Enishi: “I was wondering what’s taking you so long, so I came here only to find you shrewdly holding Princess’ hand to ‘treat her wound’… You got me there! You falsely accused me of using swordsmanship training as an excuse, but how about you!?”

Saneaki: “What…!? I have no such intentions… !””

Enishi: “No need to make excuses! Now, get away from Princess! Shoo, shoo! Damn it, I can’t let my guard down around you.”

[20:30]

Enishi: “By the way… how’s the wound? I see, I see. Good then! You injured your beautiful hands after all, so I was worried.”

Saneaki: “I think it will heal quickly, but if it hurts, you should ask Suzukake-dono to look at it.”

Enishi: “Alright! Well then, now that we’re all relieved—”

Saneaki: “Let’s walk her back to the restaurant.”

Enishi: “HUH?”

Saneaki: “What are you so surprised about? Were you not planning to do that?”

Enishi: “No, but… are we really gonna go home like this?”

Saneaki: “Of course. Even if it’s not a problem for us, we cannot allow her to go out at this hour…”

[21:06]

Enishi: “Come on, Saneaki, cut us some slack~! Just take a look. See, over there.”

Saneaki: “The moon…”

Enishi: “Yeah, the moon. Isn’t it transient and nice tonight? It’d be great to have a chat while gazing at it, right?”

Saneaki: “It does seem like the moon will be beautiful tonight. …However, there is no need to force her to come along.”

Enishi: “We’ve trained together and all, so it’d be nice if we also digest our meal together, wouldn’t it?

Saneaki: “Just what sort of mindset is that?”

[21:43]

Enishi: “Oh? What is it, Princess?”

Saneaki: “After this, at your restaurant…?”

Enishi: “Ooh~? Is it okay for us to intrude? …I see, that’s a good idea! Full-scale moon-viewing party on the porch at Princess’ house!”

Saneaki: “But… are you sure?”

Enishi: “Come on, Saneaki. Princess is saying it’s to thank us for helping her train. Wouldn’t you feel bad if you refuse?”

Saneaki: “…You’re right. Well then, I shall participate.”

[22:15]

Enishi: “Now you’re talking! Ah~ If it means I can eat Princess’ home cooking, I need to be more and more enthusiastic in training her from now on~”

Saneaki: “Enishi-dono… I will ask just in case, but you weren’t aiming for this all along, were you?”

Enishi: “Eh? What do you mean by ‘this’?”

Saneaki: “To go into her house and even have a meal there.”

Enishi: “No way~! I wasn’t thinking of doing something so shameless! It’s just… after training, we’ll have to walk her back home anyway, right? I did think that when that time comes, I should take the opportunity~ or something.”

Saneaki: “Enishi-dono. Didn’t you agree to train her because you were impressed by her ambition?”

Enishi: “Don’t get angry~ That wasn’t a lie. But well… isn’t it okay!? After all, we get to enjoy tasty drinks and meal while having the lovely Princess by our side as a bonus.”

Saneaki: “Wha—!? E-Enishi-dono! You are unbelievable!”

[23:14]

Enishi: “Well, if you insist on passing, I guess we have no choice. Right, Princess? In that case, I’ll be having Saneaki’s soba.”

Saneaki: “What!? How did it turn to that!?”

Enishi: “Hehe. Why, in the end you do want to come along, right? You should just be honest and admit it. Right, Princess?”

Saneaki:*sigh* …I don’t stand a chance against the two of you.”

Enishi: “Well then, let’s go! Off to moon-viewing and sipping soba at Princess’ house!”

*footsteps walking away*

  1. thank you very much—-!
ah, that was hilarious and cute, too—! it’s interesting how they pair the guys…in my view, there the ‘opposites’! in a few aspects, they’re almost directly opposite each other!
anyway, lol, enishi taking over the flow! it’s nice that he’s properly teaching her, though he’s still teasing her occasionally! also, lol saneaki, his good intentions are twisted by enishi to become ones with motives to be in contact with kayo, lol! enishi’s like that though, so funny—! also, enishi keeps ‘protecting’ kayo from saneaki, ahaha!
-claps happily- that was a great read—! i kept grinning throughout!

    • Saneaki and Enishi are indeed opposites, and not only personality-wise. One has the skills but doesn’t want to use it, while the other wants to be helpful but doesn’t have the necessary ability… Ah, what a painful reminder of Enishi’s route. :’D

      • i agree! i noticed how very different they are, especially in the skills aspect! it’ too real, my heart hurts—!
        really, enishi’s route…all my tears—!

  2. This is so beautiful~ ☆*:.。.o(≧▽≦)o.。.:*☆
I keep giggling as I read it since Enishi keeps making Saneaki’s intentions seem pervy (((o(*゚▽゚*)o))) I can totally understand Enishi taking advantage of the situation though, because, why not right? (◕‿◕) This is probably my favourite amongst the rest! Thanks for these, I’ll be waiting for Suzukake’s route patiently…and Tsuzuramaru as well if you can! (Trying my best to be patient wwww)
    Don’t overwork yourself!

    • Actually, I agree with Enishi. Saneaki does seem like a closet pervert. Sometimes he can really lose his cool around Kayo and that makes him suspicious, even if he tries his best not to think of anything questionable LOL.
